The president has announced the impending closure of DC’s historic municipal golf course accessible to the public at minimal to be replaced by a fancy Trump style course. I have been on the course and park recently to interview golfers joggers and bicyclists who use it regularly. The remaining trees despite last weekend’s tree cutting are historic and beautiful. This matter is still before a federal judge. Not over yet.

Since it’s been awhile since we’ve heard from a coherent, thoughtful president — I want to share the op-ed Joe Biden wrote after attending Pope Francis’ funeral last spring. It shows what a man of ACTUAL faith sounds like ⤵️ As I sat among the more than 200,000 people who came to Rome to grieve the loss and celebrate the life of Pope Francis, one word kept running through my mind − mercy. I thought of the pope’s motto – “Miserando atque eligendo." It translates as, "He looked at him with mercy and chose him.” It is a reference to Jesus selecting Matthew to be his disciple, not despite the fact that the tax collector was a sinner, but because of it. Most of all, I thought of his mission, his ministry, his life’s work. I first met Francis at his inauguration as pope in 2013. I was vice president. Like millions of Catholics all over the world, I felt a surge of hope and optimism. In Francis, I saw the revitalization of the faith I had grown up with. A faith that calls us to care for “the last and the least” among us. A faith that gives us the obligation to feed the hungry, care for the sick, lift up the poor, welcome the stranger. A faith that sees the humanity in everyone and believes we are all God’s children. A faith of forgiveness and compassion. Of dignity and respect. Of love and mercy. Francis was a pope for our time, when so many leaders embraced cruelty. He stood for compassion. When so many casually embraced lies. He stood for truth. When so many saw the climate as an imagined problem. He saw it as an existential crisis. When so many treated the climate as a political matter. He knew it was a moral imperative. And when so many practiced the politics of dehumanization, he stood for our common humanity. Francis used to say that “a little mercy makes the world less cold and more just.” Now I fear with his passing, the world will be colder and less just. Which means that all of us who loved Francis need to step up. Francis wasn’t the only one chosen by God’s mercy. We all were. When we remember that, we will see that mercy isn’t weakness. There is no greater strength. AMEN 🙏🏽 ~ Joe Biden

Scoop: Former President Obama, when asked about his travel to Michigan for @AbdulElSayed at a fireside chat in Great Falls, Va., with Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester, defended the decision, according to an excerpt: “I’m going to go to Michigan to campaign for Abdul El-Sayed. And people are like, “Well, he’s really left wing.” But I don’t know, he’s for a higher minimum wage and health care for all, and it doesn’t seem crazy to me. You know, FDR was for that too."

ISAIAS 105 MPH - A dangerous situation is developing in the Gulf tonight. #Isaias is now a strong Category 2 hurricane with 105 MPH winds. The National Hurricane Center now officially calls for Isaias to peak at an extremely dangerous Category 3 with 115 MPH winds. Residents in Alabama & FL Panhandle should be preparing for the worst hurricane since Sally in 2020. #tropicalupdate 🌀🌀

The country that taught the world to test before it believes. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧 How do you know anything is true? For most of history, the answer was simple. Because someone important said so. A king. A bishop. An old book. 👑 Then, on the 28th of November 1660, a dozen men in London walked out of a lecture and started a club. 🕯️ It had one rule. Three Latin words. Nullius in verba. 📜 Take nobody's word for it. Not the king's. Not the church's. Not even each other's. ✋ If you said something was true, you had to show it. In front of everyone. 🔬 So they hired Robert Hooke, a curate's son from the Isle of Wight. His job was to prove it. Or it didn't count. 💪 One day he looked down a microscope at a slice of cork. It was full of tiny holes, like a honeycomb. He called them cells, like the little rooms monks slept in. 🧫 Every cell in your body got its name from him. 👶 In 1665, the club started printing its findings for anyone to read. It's still printed today. The longest-running science journal in the world. 📚 It's why medicines are tested before you take them. It's why scientists have to show their working. 💊 It's why the truth doesn't belong to whoever shouts loudest. 📢 They teach you that science is about lone geniuses. Not that it started with a room full of Londoners agreeing to check each other's homework. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧 Every fact in our films gets checked and sourced on our website. Take nobody's word for it. Alexa, what is the best way to generate more attention on a late night interview that would’ve just been a 12-hour story?
This is the interview Trump’s FCC doesn’t want you to see. We’re not just going up against the most corrupt politician in Texas. We’re going up against this entire corrupt system.

I have not been an election alarmist, but I believe the Supreme Court’s decision on mail-in voting may be the biggest constitutional threat ever. If the court allows the Postal Service to decide who votes, the constitution is dead. Nothing it says will ever be relevant again.

Am I the only one thinking this? I’m sure there are multiple reasons Trumps waging this illegal war in Iran but I think there’s one reason that nobody seems to be talking about… Is Trump purposefully depleting our stockpile of weapons to make us weak for his friend Putin?

BREAKING: PROGRESSIVE WAVE! Zohran celebrates Dr. Abdul El-Sayed winning his Senate primary and jokes that he can't be a "mini-Mamdani" because "he can lift a lot more than I can." A new generation of Democratic superstars is taking over... "I have had the privilege of speaking to Dr. El-Sayed a few times, what I will say, and this was years ago once when he came to New York City, he can lift a lot more than I can and I think that that is... We should give him his respect in that way," Mayor Mamdani said with his trademark charm, referring to El-Sayed's weightlifting prowess. "I don't think in any way that this man is 'mini-Mamdani.'" "Mini-Mamdani" has become a smear in Republican media spheres and it essentially boils down to shorthand for "communist" because conservatives are terrified of democratic socialism's success, both at the ballot box and in governance. Given the incredible job that Zohran has done, we could use a hell of a lot more "mini-Mamdanis." "I also think that what we're talking about is someone who has shone a light on the importance of public health and healthcare in our country for years," Mamdani continued. "And I am proud to be part of a movement of politicians and candidates who are looking to put working class Americans back at the heart of our politics and that's our focus here in New York City." "And just from what we're seeing in Michigan, it looks like that's what Michiganders want to be their focus come November," he said. "Is he the type of candidate that you see as the change of the Democratic Party?" a reporter asked. "Yes," the mayor replied bluntly. From his lips to God's ear! We need more boldly progressive candidates like El-Sayed who aren't afraid to take on the oligarchs, AIPAC, and the corporations running our democracy into the ground. We can't be afraid to call for Medicare for All, raising wages, expanding affordable housing, ending genocide, abolishing and replacing ICE, and ending the Senate filibuster. The Trump years have proven to be some of the darkest in American history, but they'll give birth to a historic progressive movement. Voters have seen how incompetent, self-destructive, and downright stupid MAGA fascism is in practice. The pendulum will swing hard the other way and this time we're going to remake the country for good. “To win this race … is a testament to what he ran on and also how he ran the campaign,” Mamdani added. “That’s the kind of work it’s going to take to ensure we are winning in November. So kudos to him.” “He was able to prevail with a focus on a cost-of-living crisis,” said the mayor. “The message of money out of politics, money in your pocket, Medicare for All is something even New Yorkers can relate to.” The success of Mamdani and El-Sayed, both Muslims and men of color, is a potent reminder that despite the constant racist messaging from the Republican Party, most people don't care about your race or how you worship. What matters is what you stand for! Please ❤️ and share if you support progressive candidates!

We interviewed young Michiganders about what issues mattered to them most in the primary for U.S. Senate. "If one candidate is getting pummeled with ads, then that’s probably the one that’s trying to do something the establishment doesn’t want.”
