It's not. The soulslike characteristic is that the game saves your progress every second which is why enemy respawning is a thing In RE games when you die and when you encounter them again it's not that they respawned. it reloads a save where you haven't killed those enemies yet

An interesting thing that gets implied as the games go on is that the rank promotions within the Bracer guild are highly politically motivated a lot of the time, not so much an indicator of that person's skill as their popularity and use as a symbol for the guild
