4:41am- 2nd Alarm Fire: LBFD units responded to the 5600 blk of California Ave. for a fully involved house and detached garage. 9 residents displaced, including 7 minors. No injuries reported. Fire investigators on scene.
We kindly ask for the public’s patience and understanding as we work to confirm additional information.
Updates will be provided as soon as they become available.
Search operations will continue in and around the area where the diver was last seen.
The focus of the mission continues on the search for the missing man, and the safety and support of those still actively searching for him.
The Long Beach Fire Department, Los Angeles City Fire Department, U.S. Coast Guard, Los Angeles County Fire Department, and the Los Angeles Port Police with Long Beach Police continue to work together to ensure a thorough search is conducted.
The missing diver, a male in late 20’s, is an off-duty LAFD firefighter. He was last seen on Wednesday night, December 4th, when he went recreational diving with friends. He was not involved with any fire department related duties at the time of his disappearance.
Regional public safety agencies are onscene in Unified Command working an incident in which we received reports regarding a missing diver in the Port of Long Beach.

Sandbags are available at the 72nd Place Lifeguard Station from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to further assist residents.
As we have done in years past, @LongBeachParks staff will continue to fortify the berm. The next high tide is tonight at 8:30 p.m. and will measure 6.5 ft.
@LongBeachCity will continue to monitor the high tide and swell activity throughout the afternoon into the evening.
There were no reports of water inundation into homes or property damage. Over the last several weeks, our @LongBeachParks heavy equipment operators have been fortifying this berm along the Peninsula to protect against current and projected swell activity from Baja California.
#LBAlert📢Last night, south swell activity combined with a 🌊high tide significantly eroded the existing sand berm that typically protects the Peninsula's surrounding areas. This resulted in seawater intrusion along the boardwalk on the ocean side of the Peninsula.

We received reports of a 5.1 earthquake near Ojai that was felt by some residents in Long Beach. #YourLBFD is assessing critical infrastructure throughout the city to determine if there was any damage noted.
Should an aftershock occur, remember to drop, cover and hold on.
