I've always believed Oxford Street could be so much more than a road. Today we begin a new chapter as the nation’s high street goes traffic free, creating a place where people can spend time, enjoy the atmosphere and experience the very best of our city.

Extreme heatwaves have put huge pressure on our emergency services, with @LondonFire receiving 27,800 calls in July alone. Great to spend time with our firefighters, hearing about the challenges they face and their ideas for adapting London to a hotter future 🚒

Clean air shouldn’t be a privilege. In London, we’ve seen how bold action on air quality can make a huge difference. ⬇️ Harmful roadside pollution down by 27% ⬇️ 40% fall in estimated deaths linked to toxic air That’s real progress. But everyone, no matter their background or where they live, deserves cleaner air. theguardian.com/environment/…

Congratulations to ReStage on their @EarthshotPrize nomination this #CircularEconomyWeek ReStage are helping London to lead the way in building a circular economy that creates good jobs, supports local businesses, cuts waste and puts money back in people's pockets
The ReStage Script was launched today at the @NationalTheatre! A plan to keep sets, scenery, props, costumes and materials in circulation for longer, reducing waste & strengthening supply chains♻️ Potentially saving £955 million across film & theatre sectors.📽️🎭✨ restage.org.uk/

Some very good news for your Friday: 15 critically endangered frogs have hatched at London Zoo for the first time in captivity. A hopeful milestone for a critically endangered species and a reminder of what conservation can achieve. A tiny leap for frogs, a giant leap for conservation. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cr2k…

Everyone deserves access to nature, and to feel they belong there. This weekend, I teamed up with Flock Together for a walk through Wanstead Park, bringing over 200 people together to connect with nature and each other.

Cleaner rivers are vital for a greener, healthier London. With sewage entering the Thames down by 86% in its first year of full operation, the Tideway super sewer is delivering real results. My focus now is on improving waterways across the capital so every community can benefit. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cw5y…

Great to see the Tideway Tunnel is already helping to dramatically reduce sewage pollution in the Thames. But there’s still more work to do. The Mayor and I are committed to cleaning up all of London's rivers, restoring nature and improving access so that everyone can enjoy them

Great exploring ideas with young Londoners at Story Garden on reimagining underused land as places where nature thrives and young people belong. Democratising our public spaces means giving young people access, and a say in shaping them.

No better way to spend a Sunday than with the Flock Together crew and 200 Londoners from diverse backgrounds, enjoying nature. Access to nature shouldn’t be a luxury. @SadiqKhan and I are working to make London’s green spaces accessible to everyone.

Putting my tree knowledge to the test. Since 2016, @SadiqKhan has planted over 640,000 trees. Now we’re adding up to 5,000 more in areas most at risk from extreme heat, bringing shade where it’s needed most, alongside our target to grow London’s tree canopy by 10% by 2050.

Access to nature shouldn’t be a luxury. At the Shaping Liveable Futures summit, my message was clear: with @SadiqKhan, we’re building a greener, fairer London where working-class communities help shape nature’s future and share in its benefits.
