More Villabrille double sword 10 count this week in Filipino martial arts. It’s gone from feeling awkward to hitting flow. 8 years of training lets me go from practice to flow faster than I ever dreamed when I first stepped into the dojo.

More Villabrille double sword last night. It’s getting easier to lean into the style. Sword comes first physically, but until your mind has that moment of insight you just skate on the surface. Repetition helps you sink beneath and begin to make it part of your practuce.

Double sword tonight. Villabrille which I always find more challenging than Lacoste. The latter is my preferred style but my art is kali which means I need to know all the sword styles. Filipino martial arts is so multifaceted it’s a lifetime of study.

Sitting in the window seat reading with the cats curled beside us. Add dogs & a view of the sea & this was my dream for the future at age 12. The husband reading beside me is the only part I didn’t plan. Who knew I’d find another person who loved books & words as much as I did?

Girls’ day out with my daughter and Mother-in Law. Shopping & lunch. Now a soft Halloween blanket on the couch with hot tea, and a TV show to marathon. Time for some introvert time.

Had therapy. Mediated. Opened my office windows wide to the cool autumn air. Went to Filipino martial arts. Combined it washed away the anxiety I’ve been struggling with for days. I know it’s not a permanent fix unless I avoid the news and become a hermit, but today is good.

Ok, I’ve stopped eating my anxiety. I’ve stopped shopping my anxiety away. I’ve almost stopped scrolling on line for anxiety relief, but as I fix all the above the anxiety remains. I’m white-knuckling it as I build healthier ways of coping.

Wisdom is knowing I will never, ever use the recipes in that fall magazine. The pretty pictures almost seduce me. Maybe this time, I think I will COOK. I will BAKE! No, I will not. Put the magazine back & walk away, I tell myself. And I actually listen & do it. An autumn miracle.

Drove myself to gym and did the whole workout, but it finished me for the day. Had to cancel Filipino martial arts. Figured out that I’d had food but no protein. I cannot neglect that especially if I’m going train.

Filipino martial arts was great tonight. So good to be back in the dojo multiple times a week again. Gym canceled yesterday because trainer had to cancel not because long covid benched me.

After three years of writing on the last two Merry Gentry books its like I forgot how to relax. Gym and dojo are good, but unscheduled fun puzzles me.

Second day this week in the gym. First time in years. Also did Filipino martial arts. First time in months for both on same day. Long Covid sucks a lot less this week.
