Bullshit cope. If you look at the swing in Surrey from 2020 to 26 and your conclusion is โNDP supporters must not have been excited by Ebyโs neoliberalismโ you know nothing about my city or BC politics.

The conservatives lost votes compared to Rustad. People didnโt leave the NDP for the conservatives so why would you want basically a conservative running under the ndp banner?
Iโm not supporting West for ideological reasons, Iโm supporting him because I just saw the NDP get obliterated in the suburbs and now we need someone who can undo the damage Eby has done to the NDPโs reputation.
If that means supporting Brad West, so be it.
Average NDP to Con voter: โI think David Eby was too far leftโ
Meanwhile, leftists online for some reason: โWhat voters really want is my particular brand of socialism.โ

Importantly we need to make the BC NDP a party that goes back to its socialist roots. Enough of the centre-left socdem bullshit, enough of the pandering to the right. We need a socialist party with principles, that can act on its promises to the working class.
NDP have taken the lead in Ladysmith-Oceanside.
Once the mail ballots are counted the lead should be strong enough to avoid a recount.
I donโt understand decrim deadenders
Even if you think the policy is not actually bad, how is it worth completely torching the NDPโs credibility with minority voters? It might take a long time to earn that trust back!
โI wish Canadians would learn moreโ Well thereโs your mistake.
Asking voters to educate themselves will fail 100% of the time. We lost on this issue, badly, we have to let it go.

What were they thinking listening to the police. I wish Canadians would learn more about addiction instead of pretending you know what youโre talking about
The NDP govt made a lot of mistakes, but imo the biggest was drug decrim. Now every time someone sees a junkie on the street they blame directly at the NDP.
The next leader needs to say this was a mistake in the most unambiguous way possible.

John Horgan (RIP) got the NDP elected as a super likeable guy & governed pretty much from the centre
Forced the oppo BC Libs to the right
Controlled (mostly) the ideologues in caucus
Eby never had that gift, couldnโt keep caucus, & left the centre open to Doerksen.
Ok, but itโs still weird.
Kootenay-Monashee might be the last real rural blue collar NDP stronghold left in Canada.

Because itโs mostly Chinese and Indian communities that swung against the NDP. Which is why they got shelled in Metro Van, but didnโt lose much vote share elsewhere
Conservatives pushing 60% in the heavily South Asian Surrey ridings.
I live in Surrey, and I just think a traditional NDPer is going to have a hard time winning this seat back without some serious directional changes.
Why wonโt CBC call this? A 700
vote lead is not going to be overturned.
Are they in that disbelief that the NDP could actually flip a seat?
Heโs not even 2nd. Glen Clark and Ujjal Dosanjh were worse if you can believe it.
The 90s NDP were really that bad.

.@BowinnMa who has served as infrastructure minister says she understands why @Dave_Eby called #BCElection2026 ; rules out leadership bid, citing the toll the job takes on families. #bcpoli
If you told me the Conservatives were going to get 60+ seats, Iโd have thought this might be one of them.
Yes itโs a traditional NDP stronghold, but this seat demographically should not be. Interesting that the NDP held on here fairly well.
Mail will probably flip Ladysmith-Oceanside. Maybe Cowichan Valley and Kelowna Centre as well. No shot anywhere else.
Honestly the worst thing is the NDP losing seats theyโve held since 2005.
Maillardville, Newton, Saanich South, Burnaby Center, Iโm really sad about these losses.

i truly love my province so much, and nothing can change that and that makes this so much harder

Now that this stupid election is over, lets get this NDP leadership underway.
I'd like to start by saying THE WEST WANTS IN
I agree and I disagree.
An attention seeker who loves the spotlight? Yeah, definitely, but I think his politics are genuine. Heโs a moderate labour old school NDP. Like Harcourt.
Replying to @LLCBCer
My issue with West is he really doesnโt stand for anything at all, heโs just a political opportunist who loves the spotlight. Beyond being better on labour there isnโt a ton that differentiates him from the conservatives. Poco also isnโt some huge outlier in being run well

For those who blame vote splitting on left, looks like right may actually get slightly more votes if take Conservatives + OneBC and if include CentreBC almost certainly do. So for NDP its clear message need to moderate if want to win in 2030. No interest in hard left
