So key and critical to have a good consumer advocate fighting at the PSCs everywhere!
When you get your bill at the end of the month, you should know someone fought for you before you gotta waste time calling the energy company yourself. @BlackmanDNA's running for Public Service Commission to negotiate on behalf of Georgians, not Georgia Power. Vote. 1/5/20.

Why does the PUC -- and Judge Alsup -- still allow PG&E to behave like this? PG&E’s toppling of trees creates a new hazard | CalMatters calmatters.org/environment/c…

This was a well done documentary about how big utility companies don’t have the well-being of its customers in mind. It is up to us to fight for our health and the health of our children. Jonathan Scott’s Power Trip pbs.org/independentlens/vide…

PG&E says -- don't blame us -- we didn't order the line kept on -- but you didn't order the line to shut off after your own equipment warned you of problems! PG&E noted equipment trouble just minutes before the Zogg Fire started redding.com/story/news/2020/… via @BreakingNews_RS

The utilities are coming for roof top solar. We need to safeguard the right to solar in CA!

CA is entitled to answers: Why won't ISO detail how its convergence market hurt grid reliability? Why did that market restart on 8/22 & did it also cause the problems over Labor Day? Why does ISO allow energy traders to export power OUT of CAISO on peak demand summer days at all?
JUST POSTED: Climate change, poor planning and complex market mechanisms created a perfect storm that caused California’s rolling blackouts in August, state officials said in a new analysis Tuesday: latimes.com/environment/stor…

High heat does not always equal high electric demand -- especially in August when offices, factories, theaters, restaurants, etc. were all closed. Demand on 8/14 was at 46,800MW when the ISO called blackouts -- not at all historic demand. Why couldn't the ISO keep the lights on?
"Some practices in the day-ahead energy market exacerbated the supply challenges under highly stressed conditions. " WHY did the ISO allow those practices that caused blackouts?

And he is a great lawyer and has been a great judge -- he'll be a fantastic justice!
What a backstory for Newsom's new state Supreme Court nominee Martin Jenkins: -Grew up in SF's Ingleside -Dad was clerk/janitor in Coit Tower -Played briefly for the Seahawks -Ex-prosecutor & DOJ civil rights lawyer -Now would be first openly gay justice sfchronicle.com/news/article…
Marty Jenkins is a great pick for the CA Supreme Court! What a legacy the Governor will leave.
Talked to @PatThurston @KGO810 this afternoon about how the ISO -- and PG&E -- are threatening to -- and blacking out Californians  -- because neither can run their systems competently.  Hold them both accountable for their actions! omny.fm/shows/the-pat-thurst…
And note that diesel generators are an extra fire hazard -- not like solar + battery generators. Why are Californians paying to be less safe and less clean?
News: Another fleet of massive diesel generators could be installed in Silicon Valley, this set less than 2 miles from an elementary school. All while Bay Area Air Quality has asked cities to go "diesel-free by 2033" due to "tremendous toll on health." Story this Friday.

It's just as critical to get a handle on the ISO's secrecy and incompetence.
When temps rise, our energy usage should stay low. It’s critical that we all do our part now to avoid power outages. Keep the thermostat at 78° and avoid major appliance use from 3-9 pm. ▶ flexalert.org

CA bought plenty of power for all of 2020 -- but it wasn't called or it didn't run. We can overbuild and over buy - - but if the ISO won't call for the power WE ALREADY BOUGHT or if those owners don't deliver the power when we need it - what good is overbuilding and overbuying?

Why were batteries in CA charging near peak, instead of discharging to help the system? Texas can integrate batteries effectively -- why not CA?

Like it does every day. Not rocket science to manage a grid with renewables.

What other state in their right mind would allow the CAISO to control their grid when they can't manage CA's grid?
Supporters of California joining a regional power grid say the ongoing blackout concerns are a strong reason to move forward. Opponents are looking at recent @FERC decisions under-cutting clean energy policies and saying this is still a very bad idea. sandiegouniontribune.com/bus…
CA today = 3,000 MW less than historical peak demand. How can it be white knuckle time with a 14% reserve of available power? And the ISO raises the specter of losing grid stability. Irresponsible! #FixtheISO.

Wouldn't have to be this way if the CA ISO and PG&E were both made to do their jobs to keep the lights on safely. Stop the greed and incompetence!
today Californians are conserving power so we don't have rolling blackouts during a heat wave. next week, PG&E may turn off electricity for a bunch of people so its power lines don't start a catastrophic wildfire when it gets really dry & windy. September 2020, everyone.
