Fabisch should be deployed in Nakamba’s position, with the captain starting on the bench. Fabisch is more mobile, intelligent and physically stronger. He plays with composure, does not panic under pressure, and, crucially, he was the only player showing real energy and intent in the final third. In this match, he operated more on the left to provide cover for Hadebe against Salah. However, in the next two matches he should be moved into a more central role within a diamond formation. There is no need for the team to play with two defensive midfielders because we have to play to stay in the competition, with fewer low blocks in defensive patterns.
