🚨 Today, we're challenging the Home Office in the High Court regarding changes to Immigration Rules making it significantly harder for stateless people to reunite with their families. Here's why this case is vital for stateless people, who are particularly disadvantaged 🧵 1/5

These deaths were completely avoidable. Every one of these people was driven to desperate measures because the Government refused them a safe way to ask for help. In their names, let's make 2025 the year we end horrific Channel deaths with safe routes. buff.ly/3W5oY42

Many of you have reported receiving an email about #eVisas from the Home Office which is very confusing. People granted status under the EU Settlement Scheme should already have a UKVI account and be able to see their digital status - which is now referred to as an eVisa.

🚨The Government has decided to pause asylum claims from people from Syria. This forces thousands of people into limbo - at a time when there is so much uncertainty. Each asylum claim should be decided individually, on a case-by-case basis. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c36e…

🚨 BREAKING: The Government is increasing the move-on period from 28 to 56 days. The 28 day period put women at risk of further harm, including homelessness and destitution. This change is great news and will make a huge difference. bbc.com/news/articles/cx27np… 1/2

BREAKING: Ministers are postponing the full shift to #eVisas, acknowledging the system is flawed & may have devastating impact, leaving people stranded abroad. We welcome this decision, but too much remains unclear. We urgently need a public inquiry 🧵👇 theguardian.com/politics/202…

3 years after the tragic loss of 31 lives in the Channel, we brought your powerful messages of solidarity to Westminster to show that UK stands for safe routes. Together, we will keep fighting for routes to safety and family until no one has to risk their lives at sea ever again.

The billions of pounds spent on floating prisons and detention sites could help build better futures-  instead it’s funnelled to private corporations that inflict harm on our communities. Bibby is closing, but the movement for justice continues ✊🏾✊🏻✊🏿 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cew2…

Every single person crossing the Channel to seek safety is an individual with hopes and dreams, just like every one of us. On this day two years ago, 31 of those dreams were tragically cut short in the deadliest Channel disaster in 30 years.

With @haringeymsc and 100+ others, we wrote to the Govt after the racist violence in Aug to demand urgent change. The response shows total disregard for those in danger. Protecting communities means more than legal penalties – it means dismantling a system that fuels division.
After the racist violence in August, we wrote to the Home Office with @JCWI_UK and 100+ other organisations to voice our fears and advise them on how to make a change. They just replied. 1/7

📅 88 years ago, the people of East London stood firm against fascism, blocking Mosley’s Blackshirts at the Battle of Cable Street. Their defiance humiliated the fascists and remains a powerful reminder that hate will never win. #TheyShallNotPass hopenothate.org.uk/the-battl…
