In my opinion, they're nervous. And rightfully so.
JUST IN: T-Mobile CEO says SpaceX’s strategy is shape-shifting and calls satellite an inferior version of fixed wireless
Srini Gopalan: “I saw your note as well in terms of the shape-shifting nature of SpaceX’s strategy. So it’s hard to refer to them now as a satellite provider or a satellite provider that is going to build terrestrial. So hard to think about whether this is SpaceX alone or all of satellites.”
“So let me answer that question in its broadest terms, right? Here’s the way we think about broadband. We’ve got a great product in FWA and really in many ways, except for some deep rural parts, satellite is an inferior version of FWA with even more constraints in terms of things like what is the size of the beam, right? So I don’t see the synergy there between FWA and satellite.”
“In many ways, two-thirds of our FWA customers come from dense urban areas. We see huge growth opportunities in those areas still, all under the fallow capacity model. So we don’t really see a synergistic opportunity with satellite providers, and that’s a broader piece.”
“We see it as a complementary product, very much in the nature of T-Satellite. But if you’re thinking of that in broader MVNO terms, I think it comes back to the philosophy with which we operate MVNOs, which is what is the incremental TAM that something opens out? And am I willing to get into a deal for the incremental TAM?”
“If it’s a complementary product, I’m very happy to look at a resale arrangement, which is exactly what T-Satellite was, which gets built into it. But an MVNO is a wholly different thing. So I hope that clarifies where our head’s at on MVNOs and more broadly satellite.”

In my opinion, this isn't simply about entering the wireless market. It's about getting enough network coverage to fundamentally disrupt the economics of the entire industry.
Get enough coverage, offer connectivity at substantially lower prices, and force AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile to reprice their existing customer bases just to remain competitive.
The consequences? ARPU compression, increased churn, margin erosion and ultimately pressure on the dividends investors have come to rely on.
I think The endgame isn't simply competing with the MNOs, but weakening their economics and valuations to a point where SpaceX can eventually acquire one at a fraction of today's valuation?😀
This isn't necessarily just about winning wireless customers. It's about changing the economics of wireless itself.
SpaceX has selected Qualcomm #Dragonwing Cellular Infrastructure solutions to support @Starlink Mobile’s nationwide terrestrial 5G network in the U.S.
The more I try to unsubscribe from these political text messages, the more it feels like I am actually signing up for even more of them.😑
I asked the sales rep if I could buy this cool snapdragon display when they no longer need it.
I was told they don't own it and they would have to return it to Qualcomm. Hey @Snapdragon if you're thinking about tossing this out I can give it a new home 🍀😅
The more these three push back on having a 4th option, the more I want to leave @TMobile as soon as Space X launches its mobile services.
AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile are jointly lobbying the FCC to preserve existing rules as @SpaceX moves closer to launching its own independent cellular network that would compete directly with the three major U.S. carriers.
On Oct 20th, reps from all three major U.S. wireless carriers met with FCC officials to push back against proposed changes that would give satellite companies more freedom to offer cellular service.
The carriers urged the FCC to:
• Block satellite companies from using certain 5G frequencies currently used by wireless carriers.
• Keep rules requiring satellite companies to get permission from wireless carriers before using their licensed spectrum.
• Allow wireless carriers to maintain control over these agreements, including the ability to end them.
• Reconsider proposed interference limits to protect existing cellular networks.
Based on all the public communications from these carriers, and the lobbying, they are clearly worried that SpaceX's @Starlink Mobile network is going to be a major competitor to them. Starlink Mobile will become the first network operator to deploy both satellite and terrestrial spectrum.
The FCC recently announced that they are considering new rules that could make it easier for satellite companies like SpaceX to offer cellular service without relying as heavily on existing wireless carriers, so this is partly what the three big carriers are fighting against.
If there is one thing I dislike about this pixel 11 pro is how AI interferes with my ability to take pictures. It's almost like it wants to take the photo for me because it knows better?
Sony Xperia also exited the US market.
I issue a vote of no confidence.
