“So much struggle for meaning and purpose, but in the end, we find it only in each each other, our shared experiences of the fantastic and the mundane, a simple human need to find a kindred to connect with and to know in our hearts that we are not alone.”

There’s an older veteran staying near where I’ve been staying. He told me he’s been waiting for years for housing help from the VA, and winter is almost here.
I don’t know all the details of his situation, but hearing him talk about it really got to me. He offered me food yesterday when he found out I was sick.
But there’s always plenty of money for something else that doesn’t matter or benefit a single Americans life.
Go USA! 🙄
Each painful thing is like a paperweight and we are like the paper.
We can let them stay where they are and hold us down or cast them off and fly away.
I chose to fly away. I know they’ll always be looking for me, right there behind me. But I’ll do my best to keep them off me.
Those lines on a face, they don’t tell us where they’ve been. They only tell us that they’ve lived.
We have no idea what’s inside.
There’s an entire world inside each of us.
Just remember that we don’t know.
It’s just much less risky to keep it out than to let it in then watch it fly away.
That way there’s no memories of it left behind and nothing more to miss.
After living with its absence for so long, we can’t recognize it when it’s there.
They were showing you what love looks like, and you didn’t know.
Timing and environment can change our perception and behavior towards the very same things, making them look very different even though they are the same. It’s only our tuning that has changed. But we can tune into that as well.
🙂
It's like trying to imagine what it's like to swim without ever having swum before.
We either jump in to find out what it's like, or throw away our chance and resign ourselves to staying high and dry.
Just watching the waves forever from above, never getting wet and never knowing who or what we might have found.
So I jumped in. I refused to accept one more regret.
The water has been calling me for a while. I want to see what's in there.
I'll admit I was afraid, and I still am.
But I'd jump in again.
I could not bear to spend one more winter in that place.
I knew there'd be a cost. I wasn't lying to myself, but staying there would have cost me even more.
I'm in motion now.
If looking for something meaningful to do with friends and/or family at home, something that me and mine used to do was pick a book, gather around in the living room once a week, and take turns reading it out loud. Each person would read several paragraphs, or until they felt like passing it to the next person, and we’d continue around the room.
It was such a simple thing to do, but there was something really special about being gathered together that way and hearing each other’s voices as we read.
No one should have to take a test they were never told they were taking. The results won’t be what you expect.
I’ve learned so many things in the past few years that it feels like my head is being rearranged.
The main one being that the things I thought I knew with certainty have mostly been reduced to possibilities. That’s not a bad thing, though, because that means they are still possible.
I’m taking nothing at face value anymore.
So many things are not what they appeared to be, even some of the things I believed my entire life.
Must be careful not to become unraveled.
That’s the part that’s most difficult to deal with. What once felt like solid ground is squishy and unstable now, and I don’t like it. It’s hard to keep your footing without falling over and getting hurt.
The only thing that hasn’t changed is knowing love is what matters most.
Hey car people,
I’ve asked ChatGPT about this and even asked a couple of mechanics but it’s still not clear. 😏
Hoping maybe someone can explain it clearly and simply to me: what is the autodrive & overdrive, man/auto toggle for, and when are you supposed to use it?
Or just make it even simpler and just tell me what should be on or off when driving normally.
I’m too tired to think. 🙁
Hey @grok
What is this thing and when am I supposed to use it?
What do I keep it in if I just want to drive normally?
