Please read through this important thread. I’ll be coming out with more info to add about #Klobuchar and her ties to Rummler and PROP, as well as evidence she took actions she admitted would result in rx opioid and OUD pts being forced to use illicit drugs.

There were a record 100,000 overdose deaths last year. But the culprits are not the Sacklers or big pharma: opioid prescribing declined by 60 percent since its 2011 peak. The problem is a toxic drug supply one user told @ZachWritesStuff is "pure hell." 1/2 newrepublic.com/article/1645…

Most medically trained long-haulers I interviewed were shocked at how quick their own peers were to disregard their medical expertise and tell them their symptoms were in their heads. Their status as patients completely subsumed their qualifications. 2/ theatlantic.com/health/archi…

2) so now this 67 yr old man, who takes a schedule 3 controlled substance, is not only abandoned by pain dr due to DEA, but now is medically abandoned by his PCP. Why? All on the name of the “opioid crisis.” Great job @CDCInjury and @supportprop You should be proud.

Interesting. Doc called me & said she’s discharging me cuz they can’t manage my pain. Yet I’m here for my heart. We’re not redoing any tests since you got them done in May. The daughter and I got phone calls from both docs at the same time.

With 100,000 dead from drug overdoses from April 2020-April 2021 isn't it time for a new approach?

I'd like to explain why #PainPatients & the #disability community is having a VERY difficult time w/this suite of articles about #ChronicPain. I did find a more balanced view in some of the articles, & that's a good start for journos covering #ChronicPain. Sadly, it isn't enough.

I’m not being hyperbolical. Failing to relieve pain by withholding access to narcotics is a human rights abuse according to the World Health Organization.

I’m in so much PAIN! Every single moment of everyday. Without effective medication. Do you have any idea what this does to a person? Do you even care? There are laws against torture! Millions are suffering needlessly just like me. Denying us our pain meds is TORTURE!

I genuinely believe that the failure to relieve pain (oligoanalgesia) should be seen as a form of torture, in the way that withholding water or food would be seen.
The fear of using opioids has become a nationwide paranoia.

Illicit drugs account for 3 out of 4 drug poisoning deaths in Nashville, Tennessee. But enforcement, prosecutions still focus on physician prescribing. nashvillescene.com/news/cove…

If your only metric is reduce prescribing (and not improved pain control or reduced deaths), then this is a foreseeable (and likely harmful) outcome. 🤨
For the 6th straight year, #DEA is planning to cut the supply of #opioids in 2022. The agency predicts the "medical need" for prescription opioids will fall nearly 19% next year. #chronicpain #cpp #opioidcrisis #opioidhysteria bit.ly/3lQU6Cr

Today I attended a homegoing service that turned into a public service announcement for testing drugs. The funeral began with the expected wails and singing but all of that stopped when the mother of the deceased took the mic and pleaded with us to be careful.

If you don’t see how #Dopesick is adding to stigma, just pay attn to how pain patients are being spoken to since the show came out. The amount of hatred and nastiness being thrown and CPP’s who depend on opioids and doctors who treat pain is unacceptable. You are ADDING to stigma

So my family doctor fired me as her patient cause I was crying in pain and told her that I couldn't live anymore with this pain. That I can't wait up to a year for another specialist. She told me that she won't EVER prescribe strong pain meds. That I should find another doctor.

Replying to @RachChamp_
Awful. When I was trying to get a diagnosis for what turned out to be MS, the first neurologist I saw decided that I was actually just depressed because I was a lesbian. He literally told me that I was "too pretty for that lifestyle." It took another year for me to get dxd.
