Trump put a former airline lobbyist in charge of the DOT. As Secretary, Sean Duffy has:
- Killed a plan to make airlines pay for delays
- Stopped enforcing refunds for renumbered flights
- Pushed to weaken airfare transparency
Airlines are no longer required lodging, meals, or other assistance when delays or cancellations.
Starting October 19, under 14 CFR 234.4, rule is to reduce the number of disruptions for which airlines provide amenities or compensation.
