From @JerseyCoastEN: JCEN Announces Effort to Explore New Jersey Governor Recall Process TOMS RIVER, NJ — Jersey Coast Emergency News (JCEN) is announcing that it is working with local, county, state, and federal leaders to explore the legal process required to pursue a recall of New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill. Under New Jersey’s Uniform Recall Election Law, a governor cannot be recalled until they have served at least one year in their current term. Governor Sherrill took office in January 2026, meaning any recall election could not be held before January 2027. However, state law allows the legal process to begin up to 50 days before the one-year mark. The recall process is governed by state law and requires organizers to establish a recall committee, file a notice of intention, and collect signatures equal to 25% of New Jersey’s registered voters before a recall election can be scheduled. Those signatures must be gathered within 320 days after the petition is approved for circulation. JCEN stated that it is in the early stages of discussing the legal requirements and organizational structure necessary for such an effort. According to JCEN, conversations are taking place with individuals at the local, county, and state levels regarding the feasibility of launching a statewide recall initiative. “This is about understanding the legal process and determining whether a recall effort is something that can be responsibly organized within the framework of New Jersey law,” JCEN said. As with any potential recall effort, success would ultimately depend on satisfying all statutory requirements and obtaining the necessary voter support statewide. No official recall petition has been announced at this time. My view is that the governor has not cooperated with the federal government in the way I believe is necessary to verify voter eligibility and maintain confidence in New Jersey’s election system. Because I consider the integrity of elections and the right of eligible citizens to vote to be fundamental, I believe greater cooperation and transparency with federal authorities would better protect public trust. That belief is one of the reasons I support exploring the legal process for a recall. More information will be released in the time leading up to the one year mark.
