Stephen A. Smith PRESSES Abdul El-Sayed on Abolishing ICE — Then Gets a Firm Answer on Open Borders
Stephen A. Smith: You’ve said the only way forward is to abolish ICE and start from scratch. What does that mean?
Dr. Abdul El-Sayed: Let me be clear: I believe we ought to have a safe, secure southern border.
I believe you ought to enforce immigration law, but not through masked men with AR-15s acting against the Constitution.
ICE didn’t exist before this century. It’s not part of the Constitution. ICE is not about immigration. It’s about making a show of immigration and normalising paramilitary force on our streets.
I believe we need to undo it and build a system that enforces immigration law while respecting the Constitution.
Stephen A. Smith: Is there any condition under which you think open borders are acceptable?
Dr. Abdul El-Sayed: No. You have to have borders that you can control. There’s no question about that.
People think ICE is about border enforcement, but it’s not. Customs and Border Protection enforces the border. ICE handles immigration enforcement inside the country.
I went to Minneapolis during the height of Project Metro Surge.
Some of the things I saw, I never thought I would see in the United States of America. We can’t allow that to continue.
Breaks my heart 😢
The father of the 20-year-old co-pilot who died along with eight others when their Learjet crashed in Florida said Friday he has listened to his daughter’s final radio transmissions “many times” since the crash.
Allan Filgueiras, himself a pilot, was searching for answers as to why the plane plunged from the sky on Sunday — but what he found was pride in how his daughter, Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, handled the crisis.
Ted tells it like it is!
Dear @WhiteHouse: Stop attacking democracy. You disrespect the American people by saying they voted in a crooked election.
If you have evidence of alleged voter fraud, then have your puppet @AGToddBlanche try to prosecute.
Otherwise take your authoritarian shit and shove it.

Patriotic American Veterans Are Coming After Pete Hegseth — and Demanding Harshest Punishment Possible: "Those Are War Crimes"
Veterans and senior officers purged from the Pentagon are done with half-measures. Firing Pete Hegseth is the bare minimum. As the calls for his removal grow louder, they are demanding that Congress go further: impeach him, convict him, and permanently bar him from ever holding public office again.
"There is no pathway back to an effective and respected DOD with Hegseth as the secretary of war," said one senior officer forced out under his watch. "Many of us blame Congress almost as much as we blame him. The government has failed the military, and impeaching Hegseth is the first, necessary step toward restoring any faith or confidence."
The indictment against him is long and ugly. Retired Rear Adm. Michael Smith, founder of National Security Leaders for America, says the case extends far beyond the war with Iran. He points to the deadly boat strikes against civilians in the Caribbean — strikes he flatly calls war crimes, which is to say murder — and to the abrupt resignation of the Southern Command commander. "Was it because he was given an illegal order and he didn’t want to follow that?" Smith asked.
The failures do not stop there. Veterans groups have condemned Hegseth's refusal to evacuate military families from Bahrain before the fighting with Iran began, leaving spouses and children in harm's way when Iran struck the Navy's largest base in the Middle East. They have also highlighted the reported conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln and the targeted removal of senior officers who are women and people of color.
Hegseth has not merely been a bad secretary. He has been a destructively criminal one. Simply letting him leave with no accountability should not and cannot happen in a country like the United States of America.

What Trump doesn't seem to know is that every President gets to decorate the @WhiteHouse to their likeness.

Breaking news this afternoon: Susie Wiles is out and Stephen Miller is in as the new White House Chief of Staff.
Trump clearly did not learn his lesson from Tuesday's electoral drubbing. The voters rejected the type of policy and direction that Stephen Miller embodies, and Trump rewards him with a promotion.
Buckle up, the next two years are not going to be easy.

MAGA will have a clear cut set of politicians for the next cycle. It’s time for the Republicans to go on record onwhile they screw over the American people.
Amen!!!
For nearly two years, the American people watched as Congress surrendered its constitutional authority to Donald Trump, abandoning its responsibility to serve as a check on executive power.
We watched ICE agents descend on American neighborhoods, terrorizing families, separating loved ones, and conducting operations that raised grave questions about constitutional rights and deadly uses of force.
We watched a president and those closest to him blur the lines between public service, personal enrichment, and political power.
We watched American farmers struggle under the weight of tariffs, retaliatory trade policies, rising costs, and disappearing markets.
We watched our closest allies alienated, decades of diplomatic relationships damaged, and America’s credibility on the world stage eroded.
We watched federal agencies gutted, career public servants pushed out, and scientific expertise dismissed.
We watched the Department of Justice face political pressure while the independence of our institutions came under attack.
We watched billionaires gain extraordinary influence while working families struggled to afford groceries, housing, healthcare, and childcare.
We watched immigrants demonized, transgender Americans targeted, protesters vilified, and vulnerable communities turned into political punching bags.
We watched attacks on voting rights, threats against political opponents, assaults on the free press, and efforts to undermine the very institutions designed to protect our democracy.
We watched the normalization of corruption, cruelty, dishonesty, and contempt for the rule of law.
And perhaps most disturbing of all, we watched members of Congress who swore an oath to defend the Constitution remain silent, make excuses, or actively enable the erosion of their own institution’s authority.
But the American people were watching. We were listening. We were remembering.
And now, we are demanding accountability.
Not revenge. Not political retaliation. Not another round of empty speeches and promises.
Accountability under the law. Accountability for abuses of power. Accountability for the damage inflicted on our country.
Because elections are not simply about changing who occupies the seats of power. They are about changing what those in power are permitted to get away with.
The American people did not fight to reclaim their government just to watch a new Congress protect the people who abused it.
We did our part at the ballot box. Now Congress must do its part under the Constitution.

Pardon me, but Trump is not supposed to control Congress. No president is supposed to control Congress. The Constitution helpfully points that out.
Hunter nailed it!!
I read JD Vance's post on this site yesterday and at first I was shocked. The Vice President all but admitted that his own administration made a mistake going to war with Iran. I can't think of a sitting VP breaking with his President this publicly in my lifetime.
And at first glance his analysis seems spot on. His first prescription is to end the war. A war that he and the President, until this week, refused to even call a war.
It's hard to disagree with him. But like everything MAGA, the thread of truth is there to hide the larger truth. And the larger truth is this.
Tuesday was the greatest repudiation of a sitting President by voters in the history of this country.
Not a repudiation of a policy. A repudiation of a man.
The message was not only about Iran or Israel or slogans or even the price at the pump. The message was simple.
WE ARE DONE WITH DONALD TRUMP.
We are done with his lies. We are done with the corruption and the gaslighting. We are done with the insanity. We are done with the cruelty.
The message from Mississippi to Iowa, from Kansas to Maine, from North Carolina to Texas, young and old, North and South, East and West, was the same.
Fuck Donald Trump.
This country desperately needs a healthy Republican Party. A party with room for Mitt Romney and Thomas Massie, for Chris Christie and (I can't believe I'm saying this) Marjorie Taylor Greene. A party that puts this constitutional republic above the interests of one man. A party that knows the difference between a Ken Paxton and a John Cornyn, between a Vivek Ramaswamy and a Mike DeWine.
That is the message voters sent on Tuesday, with more ballots cast than in any midterm in American history.
WE ARE DONE WITH DONALD TRUMP.
The sooner the brave members of whatever remains of the Republican Party understand that, the sooner we can begin to heal.
I hope Democrats in Congress heard it too. Voters sent the same message in 2020, and we failed to make it stick. I for one don't think this country can afford 26 more months of this madness before we do the one thing voters just demanded in historic numbers.
Trump needs to leave, and he needs to leave now.
All it would take this January is eleven Republican senators willing to acknowledge the existential threat this lawless President poses to the country and the world. Eleven brave Republicans need to stand up and end this madness. Save their party. Save the country.
It's up to all of us to give them the courage to do what's right.
