PRESS RELEASE LAGOS DSVA RELEASES DIRECTORY OF GBV STATE COORDINATORS IN NIGERIA The Lagos State Government, through the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), has released a directory of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) State Coordinators across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The directory is an outcome of continued efforts to strengthen national coordination and collaboration among GBV response stakeholders, following the landmark two-day National Convening of GBV State Coordinators hosted by Lagos State, with support from the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC II) Programme @rolacng, funded by the European Union @EUinNigeria and implemented by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IIDEA) @IntIDEA_NG. The directory provides key contact details of GBV State Coordinators, serving as a practical resource to support reporting, referrals, and access to appropriate response services for survivors of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence. It is designed to strengthen coordination and referral pathways among stakeholders working in GBV prevention and response, while making it easier for citizens to identify and connect with the appropriate state-level contacts. The Lagos State Government encourages individuals, organisations, government institutions, civil society organisations, community groups, and other stakeholders to make use of the directory and share it widely within their networks. DSVA remains committed to strengthening collaboration, supporting coordinated GBV response, and improving access to timely and appropriate services for survivors across Nigeria. FROM PARTICIPANT TO PEER ADVOCATE: THE MULTIPLIER EFFECT OF ONE STUDENT The most powerful way to spread a message is through someone who has learnt it and is ready to share it with others. Following her participation in the launch of the Smart Teens Advocacy Initiative (STAI) on Tuesday, October 20th, 2026, Miss Adikun Esther took the lessons beyond the event, leading a sensitisation session during the morning assembly at Girls Senior High School, Agege, on Thursday, October 22nd, 2026. Using the STAI booklet as a guide, she educated her fellow students on their rights, forms of abuse, relevant laws, key terminologies and available channels for seeking help. This is peer advocacy in action, young people using their voices and knowledge to help other young people recognise abuse, understand their rights and know when to speak up. Through the Smart Teens Advocacy Initiative, Lagos DSVA is empowering teenagers to become active participants in building safer schools and communities. #LagosDSVA #SmartTeensAdvocacyInitiative #SGBVItEndsWithUs #AGreaterLagosRising #LASG @followlasg

Every teenager deserves to feel safe, understand their rights and know when and how to speak up. Through the Smart Teens Advocacy Initiative (STAI), Lagos DSVA is taking prevention into the classroom, equipping young people with the knowledge and confidence to recognise abuse, establish healthy boundaries, challenge harmful behaviours and support peers who may be experiencing violence. This commitment came to life on October 20th, 2026, when 300+ students across Education District I participated in the launch of the STAI booklet, themed “Stay Safe, Speak Up.” The engagement created an opportunity to turn vital conversations about safety and abuse prevention into practical knowledge students can apply in their daily lives. #LagosDSVA #SGBVItEndsWithUs #SmartTeensAdvocacyInitiative #AGreaterLagosRising #LASG @followlasg

His feelings matter! His safety matters! His voice matters! In commemoration of the International Day of the Boy Child, we asked boys to affirm what they deserve, who they are and the values they hope to embody. Their words reflect the importance of raising boys who are safe enough to express themselves and grow into responsible young men. #LagosDSVA #SGBVItEndsWithUs #InternationalDayOfTheBoyChild2026 #AGreaterLagosRising #LASG @followlasg

Thank you for raising this. The email addresses listed are those of the respective GBV coordinators-in-charge. While Lagos, and a few other states have established statutory agencies dedicated to responding to Gender-Based Violence, many states operate through response teams or departments that are still developing their structures. As such, some do not yet have official email addresses or dedicated websites, so the coordinators’ email addresses are provided to ensure they can be reached regardless. Thank you for your understanding!
This is nice, well done. But why does the email address for some states carry “personal” addresses and not official ones like Lagos, Abia, Ondo etc? Just asking
