Public safety isn't about one person or one piece of technology. It's about people working together and utilizing the best tools available to help keep our community safe.
Recently, in Travis County near the Lakeway city limits, a vehicle struck a pedestrian and fled without stopping. Dispatchers broadcast a partial license plate and vehicle description. It wasn't much, but it was enough.
Our Traffic Unit used Flock cameras to identify a possible match traveling through Lakeway. Patrol officers quickly located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, detaining the suspect until our partners at the Travis County Sheriff's Office arrived and made the arrest.
This is what protecting a community looks like: good people leveraging technology to help turn a few small pieces of information into justice.
☀️ Temps are near 100°F! If you're outdoors:
💧 Stay hydrated.
🌳 Take breaks in the shade or A/C.
👵 Check on family, neighbors & those most vulnerable.
🐶 Keep pets cool with water & shade, avoid hot pavement, and never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.
⚠️ Know the signs of heat stroke and call 911 in an emergency.

🚧BEE CREEK ROAD PAVING PROJECT🚧

🎆 This 4th of July, the only bright lights you want to see are fireworks - not police lights. 🚔
🇺🇸 From June 19 through July 6, the Lakeway Police Department will join law enforcement agencies across Texas in increasing traffic enforcement to help keep our roads safe during the 4th of July holiday.
🚔 Officers will be actively watching for impaired drivers as part of a statewide initiative supported by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
Our goal isn't tickets - it's to help everyone get to their destination safely.
Before you celebrate, make a plan:
✅ Designate a sober driver
✅ Use a rideshare service
✅ Call a friend or family member
✅ Stay where you are if you've been drinking
Whether you're traveling across town or across the state, drive sober, stay alert, and help keep Lakeway's roads safe this holiday season.
