🇸🇪 I call myself an atheist simply because I believe no God exists, but I am at large, regarding many questions, very undecided. 🏳️‍🌈 Ally

Me reading philosopher A: ”yeah this makes total sense” Me reading philosopher B absolutely ripping A to shreds: ”wow I can’t believe A is such an idiot” Me reading A again: ”yeah this makes total sense”.

Atheists will say religion is all fiction when their entire worldview is literally Animorphs.

5+7=12 cannot be an a priori synthetic judgment because then calculators would be conscious.

It's commendable that you corrected your earlier claim about transitional fossils, but your revised argument still has a fundamental problem. Just because evidence can be interpreted differently doesn't mean those interpretations are equally well supported.
The biggest issue with evolution

How do you distinguish a truth you've arrived at through reason from a conclusion you've merely become extraordinarily good at defending?

Magic: The Gathering quite literally saved my life when I was actually mentally ill. Without it I likely would have ended my life in my early 20s. This game isn’t yours. This game is for everyone. Trans people including. Being trans is not a mental illness.
Perfect! Even more mentally ill people flocking to my game.

”Wind back the tape of life to the early days of the Burgess Shale; let it play again from an identical starting point, and the chances become vanishingly small that anything like human intelligence would grace the replay” - Stephen J Gould, A Wonderful Life (1989)

I agree. Quick question: If the evolutionary process were rebooted, would the same emergent properties arise?

Unless determinism is true, which would make our repeat emergence trivially true, then I think Gould is right. Evolution is shaped by chance event, it is historically contingent. What if the meteor that killed all non-avian dinosaurs never hit? Would we be around? Hard questions

Evolutionary psychology gets too much hate.
What philosophical opinion will get you like this?

How do Christians explain the existence of Surströmming and salted licorice? This amount of evil contradicts a tri-omni God.

@SimonSimplicio How do Thomists deal with this? Both are directly in opposition to the faculty of... well... everything. Looks like shit, smells like shit, tastes like shit.

This meme only works if you have no idea at all what illusionism actually is. It is *not* the idea that consciousness itself is an illusion. That would indeed be silly. Dennett is rolling over in his grave.

This is ahistorical. The first individuals who initially proposed a very ancient earth were almost exclusively men of religion and faith. The statement also confuses methodological naturalism with ontological naturalism. Science is based on the former, not the latter.
Replying to @AiG
Millions of years is based on the presupposition of naturalism, a secular worldview. Any evidence is interpreted through that lens.

Philosophy of mind is cool because no matter what your view is there will be a large portion of people who think you’re a fucking lunatic

But I won’t lose. Let me explain. I can’t force myself to believe something is true if I already believe it’s false. If God exists, I don’t think such a person would appreciate dishonesty.
Dear atheist, What if, after you die, you find out that God is real all along? You lose.

If God finds it fitting to punish a person who cannot find it in their mind or heart to believe in them then.. yeah, I guess I will lose. But what kind of God is that in the first place? Not the God I am constantly told is perfectly loving and moral.

(And, of course, this is completely ignoring the numerous issues any kind of punishment in hell has.)
