Re-upping this -- it's coming up on one year since @mindmannered and I proposed the #ResearchWorthUsing framework for research quality. We refer to it frequently in our work as research brokers and hope others find it useful too!
What counts as quality in #EdResearch? @LaurGoldenberg & I propose this framework for #ResearchWorthUsing: 1. Relevance of question 2. Theoretical credibility 3. Methodological credibility 4. Evidentiary credibility 5. Relevance of answer #EBDM #EvidenceSynthesis @AERA_EdResearch

Parents, see @NCILiteracy’s infographic for questions to ask about your child's reading instruction, which should be explicit, systematic, and evidence-based. bit.ly/3s96Ma8 #literacy

Important study by Jason Borges & Meghan Duffy in collab w/@devin_kearns & Melodee Walker asks: Can reading practitioners & researchers improve intensive reading support systems in a large urban school system? Answer: YES -- see more in link to article below
This article reminded me of the importance of subtraction. In order to make room for the new (fill in the blank - material, activity, workstream), what do you take out? Looking forward to the podcast!
New piece drops in @ELmagazine, "The Power of Doing Less in Schools"-- Before schools can do more new things, we need to sunset old things. ascd.org/el/articles/the-pow… Connected to our @teachlabpodcast series, Subtraction in Action: teachlabpodcast.com/episodes…

Like for many others @stockpile customer 'service' is the pits - I've gotten email responses that are unhelpful at best & have sent me in circles trying to resolve my issue. Is anyone there????
Replying to @stockpile
@stockpile - I don’t know how to get assistance from your company. No one ever responds to my queries and no one will provide a phone number so I can actually talk to a human. Terrible company with horrific customer service. #AMC #APE #stocks

"Bridging that gap is the work" Important thread on direct aka explicit instruction 🧵
Educators have been told, "Direction Instruction is remedial and oppressive." This reputational stink repulses many well-meaning people. Contrast that to the chicken-soup level familiarity of Balanced Literacy which affirms their learning bias. Bridging that gap is the work.
