@kportermagee: "Knowledge without understanding is, in the end, knowledge without meaning." What happens when AI moves faster than human understanding? How do we keep the human person at the center?

Intelligence must draw on memory. The mind must not simply compile data — as an algorithm now does more quickly than we can — but recall lived experiences, which contain depths of meaning that only the human soul can recognize, and connect more deeply with the goodness of these experiences. Everything that is good begins “with the Spirit” and thus possesses a breath, a dynamism and a sense of communion that, once experienced, are engraved upon the heart. vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

I created two indexes of religious behavior. One is private acts like reading holy texts, reading devotionals, watching services online. The other is social acts like attending in person worship, attending small groups, and speaking to others about religion. No matter how high one scores on the private dimension, happiness doesn't change at all. But as social religious behavior increases, so does self-reported happiness.

As we share these quotes by #PopeFrancis today, we honor his legacy and continue the journey he so courageously inspired - a Church that listens, discerns, and walks together. May his words continue to guide us in being a more synodal Church as we continue #walkingtogether.
