True psychological safety is built by leaders, managers, parents, and colleagues.
When young professionals, creatives, or family members feel they must hide burnout to protect their reputation or appear unshakeable, we create fragile environments.
Establishing open communication where honest feedback is welcomed, and where admitting to stress does not result in judgment, changes organizational culture.
It allows people to seek support early before a major crisis occurs.
As leaders, empathy and clear communication are key strategic assets.

Today, October 10th, marks World Mental Health Day.
This year's global theme is "Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change," set by the World Federation for Mental Health.
Let's talk about the most common lie told across Africa every single day.
It's not 'I'm five minutes away' when you haven't left your house.
It's 'I'm fine, just tired.'
Think about how many times you've said that this month.
Think about this for a moment.
If you wake up tomorrow with a severe fever, do not try to hide it.
You do not feel ashamed, and you do not worry that your colleagues will think you are weak.
You say, "I am unwell, I am taking medication, and I need rest."
When our brains, which are physical, biological organs, reach a point of exhaustion, we hide.
We stay quiet.
We treat anxiety, burnout, and depression like personal shortcomings.
Your nervous system is as real as your immune system.
Taking care of your mental health is a health requirement, not a sign of weakness.
Let us stop whispering.
Let us start building informed, supportive communities.
