Summer may be winding down, but mosquito season in Connecticut isn't over yet 🦟
This week, Commissioner @DrJuthani joined @LGSusanB at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (CAES) to discuss the two confirmed human cases of West Nile Virus identified in the last two weeks.
Mosquito activity typically continues in Connecticut through October, and health officials are urging residents not to let their guard down as temperatures start to cool.
Simple steps that make a big difference:
✅ Use EPA-registered insect repellent
✅ Wear long sleeves and pants, especially at dawn and dusk
✅ Drain standing water around your home (bird baths, gutters, containers)
✅ Repair or install window/door screens
Watch Commissioner Juthani's remarks and get a tour of CAES lab 🎥

Mosquitoes are not just annoying—they spread germs. Keep them out of your home by using screens, running AC when possible, and removing standing water. Repellent works, too!
Extreme heat can be dangerous, but a few simple steps make a big difference:
• Sip water throughout the day
• Take breaks in shade or A/C. No A/C at home? Call 2-1-1 to find a cooling center near you.
• Look out for older adults, kids & anyone without cooling.
LPC was awarded 10k to prevent underage nicotine use. Amplify is hosting the kickoff meeting for grantees across the State. Shout out to SERAC for coordinating this program in Region 3!
