A little thread in memoriam of someone โœจ๏ธ who oozed humanity. Today many of us have lost a true friend and colleague. I've known Katie since she first began working @NewcastleHosps โ€“ at West Molesey, South East

The NHS is broken but its vital signs are good. Has #Darzi's review just made the business case for smarter use of and investment into #OccupationalHealth? @hilarywinch and @NHSOHNetwork Thread...
The NHS is now an open book. "The issues are laid bare for all to see. From this shared starting point, I look forward to our collective endeavour to turn it around for the people of this country, and to secure its future for generations to come" #Darzi assets.publishing.service.goโ€ฆ

Posting this as a reminder to self: aging doesnโ€™t have to be limiting
Yesterday England O65 women (Masters World Champions 2018!) took to the stage in a friendly masters match against fellow England O60 team mates! ๐ŸŒ #GetInspired Hockey really can be played at all ages! #HWC2018

Not enough GPs. Govt say training more. Hoards of International medical graduates filling training posts. Unemployed GPs. Nothing adds up.
My new work colleague in Bolton is finishing her GP training soon, she is coming off the local VTS scheme. She told me only she and one other colleague have found jobs, the rest are jobless and are really worried about the future. That must be about 20 unemployed GPs from one scheme? Why is this allowed to happen @VictoriaAtkins ?! Disgraceful. @wesstreeting

Patient harms are going to go up significantly- are we monitoring this on scale? Who is holding accountability?! This is all completely unforgivable

medicine has a long, noble history of campaigning and advocating and challenging around public policy that affects health and healthcare i would argue we often aren't political *enough* (doesn't have to be *party*-political) and people who say "too political" hate challenge

As soon as I stopped undertaking unpaid workloads & actually took lunch breaks, whilst still working at least half a day extra unpaid each week, "senior management" starting getting rather nasty with me. That was the point at which I put in my retirement papers. Sorry!

For years I did a 2 consultant clinic single handed. Few years before I retired I asked myself why am I doing this ? Itโ€™s was really stressful and crap for trainees and patients. I stuck to the rules and became less โ€œ efficientโ€.

Reading the article it seems that it is not as simple as the headline suggests, which is basically a repeat of Hunt 2016 nonsense. This is more complicated, but still nonsense. A thread ๐Ÿงต

It sounds like the drop in productivity is a surprise to NHS E โ€˜leadersโ€™ Surprise- if you give people claps and then reward them with a pay reductionโ€ฆ it feels like a slap in the face. The goodwill from NHS staff will naturally decrease But what is going to be startling is this is a leading indicator for the attrition rates/churn of staff we can expect soon. Over 20k doctors will leave the NHS this year
