Same. Worked in factories to pay tuition, like parents. Outed by speech & taste. Got laughed at for mispronouncing words I had never heard spoken around me, side-eyed for thinking franchise restaurants were fancy (we thought so growing up), mocked for mainstream taste in music.

Don't be fooled by the hype. This is THREE HOURS of turgid, lugubrious shots of unpleasant, unattractive, clinically depressed rich people ineptly manipulating each another. Possibly the most boring movie I've ever seen. Much left unexplained but who cares, the stakes are so low.
‘YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING’ debuts with $15M in its opening weekend domestically. The documentary was released in just 855 screens.

Your 30s are a weird time because you start to see which of your peers & comrades are really about it and who was just having a rebellious phase on the way to becoming their evil parents… like what happened to class treachery, guys? :(

I hope that Toronto hospitals will take this blatant vile anti-Black racism at least as seriously as they take their staff speaking out against genocide.
A racist woman on the TTC knocks a baby stroller out of the way to sit down & calls the mother a “black biotch” while wearing a Sunnybrook health & Sciences badge & sweater. She then harasses another passenger after he calls her a racist & tries to knock his phone out of his hand

The wildest part about poverty is how much time it steals. Waiting for buses. Calling assistance offices. Comparing grocery prices. Fighting insurance. Sitting at laundromats. Being poor is a second job nobody pays you for.

Now would be a good time to reacquaint yourself with Elizabeth Schambelan's writing on fraternities, male bonding, gang rape, and the relationship between hazing and counterinsurgency 🧵:

With the evolving Cornell University story, I have been reflecting on my fourth and final year at St. Thomas University in 2015 in Fredericton. One of my professors, Jan Wong, wanted some of our class to work on an investigative series on rape on campus.

FTR, Neil Peart's political awakening was shaped by the work of far-right icon, Ayn Rand, later by problematic proponents of the New Atheism, Richard Dawkins & Christopher Hitchens. His travelogues were also sometimes uncomfortably classist. Rush's politics were *always* sus.

In a 2009 Blender interview, Geddy Lee said "I bathe in the racial beauty of Judaism." A very ethnonationalist statement to say the least.

The man who strangled & raped me is @NColemanMD. After I confronted him, he changed his name from Nathan Coleman, MD & locked his account. He also masturbates at work while looking at patient radiological images & talking to coworkers. He is actively sliding into DMs. Warn women
Got a neighborhood alert that there was a rape nearby. “Huh, that is really close to where I live.” Clicked it. Oh. My block. OH. That was the rape I reported. It took this long to show up on the public crime statistics. Meanwhile I’m supposed to just keep smiling at work

I’m a huge proponent of making homeschooling a federal crime.
I’m a huge proponent of homeschooling and using tech for education, but at some point a child has to receive *some* accreditation right? Or are we just funneling kids straight from AI school into a16z lectures to YC to…?

It's the language of someone who's shifting rightward, Taylor. "Narrow minded", "tiny bubble" & "cancel" are words we've all herd from the mouths of David Rubin, Meghan Murphy, Matt Taibbi, & Naomi Wolf before they pivoted to the right. You look like you're heading there.

I don't ascribe to any political group for this reason. I think it's extremely narrow minded to only engage w a tiny bubble of ppl and do cancel culture slop on anyone who steps out of your tiny little box. I have and always will engage with people across the political spectrum

living in fascistic times means fascism seeps into every facet and crevice of culture and society. nothing escapes it - not food, fitness, beauty or interpersonal relationships. cultures, micro and macro, are shaped by political realities, policies and the migration of attitudes. our cultures absorb these things, are transformed by it & then reproduce the ideas. Gramsci’s work on hegemony really underscores this: any political order becomes most powerful when its ideology ceases to look like ideology and starts looking like common sense.

Since some of you are willing to take an actual enemy from the Manhattan Institute at his word, instead of @realLandsEnd here’s the portion right after he cut the video: “ Revolution is sustained by care work, networks of food distribution, medicine, transportation, shelter
🚨 “The More Dysgenic, the Better”: Beatrice Adler-Bolton Says the Left Must Give Up the “Fantasy of Being Fitter Than the Fascists” At Socialism 2026, Adler-Bolton argues that “fitness is a measure of relative disposability under capitalism” and says the goal should not be to become “more useful to the ruling order.” She says the left should not try to beat fascists “at their own game” by becoming “fitter, more eugenic.” “In fact, the more dysgenic, the better, I think.” She closes by arguing that revolution is not “a contest between optimized and properly prepared bodies” and that the very idea is itself fascist.
