She’s actually making a solid point: the “little things” are rarely little when you’re deciding who deserves a permanent place in your life.
Attraction may get your attention, but consistency, thoughtfulness and character build trust.
When I was ready for marriage, I didn’t simply choose the most attractive person. I paid attention to the woman who could make me feel valued in the smallest ways sometimes even remembering to surprise me with a thoughtful gift without being asked.
Life taught me that loving sincerely without wisdom can leave you learning expensive lessons. So I still love deeply it’s part of who I am but these days, I pair a good heart with good judgment.
Love shouldn’t make you foolish. It should make you wiser about who you give it to

The older I get, the more I realize that the “little things” aren’t little at all. When it came to marriage, I wasn’t looking for the most attractive person in the room. I was paying attention to character, thoughtfulness, consistency and those quiet gestures people make when nobody is keeping score.
Someone occasionally buying you a gift without being asked might sound insignificant, but it tells you something: “I thought about you.”
I’ve learned some of these lessons the hard way. Loving sincerely doesn’t make you foolish; loving without boundaries can.
So I’m still choosing love but these days, I bring wisdom to the relationship too.
