The Reform administration on Warwickshire County Council has been propped up by the Conservatives since they took (minority) control in May 2025. The current Leader of the Council has been found guilty on at least two separate occasions, by external solicitors at a cost of more than £33,000 to the taxpayer, for breaching the Cllrs Code of Conduct. However, he was cleared of all wrongdoing by a panel consisting of a Reform, Conservative and Lib Dem Cllr who voted in favour 2-1. Prior to Reform taking over, the Conservatives had been in power since 2005, so 20 years! Is supporting Reform an attempt to cling on to power? After all, Conservative Cllrs chair all the major scrutiny committees… Resources & Fire and Rescue - Andy Crump Communities - Jan Matecki Adult Social Care & Health - Jo Barker Children & Young People - Yousef Dahmash Regulatory - Chris Mills Pension Fund Investment - Chris Kettle Also, not to forget, being a Committee Chair comes with a £7226.61 “Special Responsibility Allowance” or £5616.58 for the Pension Investment sub-committee. 66% of all Conservative Cllrs on WCC are committee chairs. So in short “We lost an election so we’re looking for absolutely anyone to blame rather than accepting responsibility and looking at our own internal failings.”
