i talked about SQL and agents at planetscale's meetup last month, video's up, check it out!
Turns out agents are amazing at SQL. Almost unreasonably good. The combination of: 1) Keep all necessary context in postgres, sqlite, mysql, duckdb, etc. Slack messages. Action logs. Whatever. 2) Apply constraints. Scoped permissions, views, result-set caps, low timeouts. 3) Give the agent credentials + schema. Let it rip. Just because writing complex SQL queries to get answers from data used to be arduous, doesn't mean it still is. Great talk from @NotTuxedoSam on this. youtube.com/watch?v=uMudSbZ7…

this video shoot was one of my last projects at YC before deciding to join the team at Conductor - a crossover event of sorts give it a watch - @eve_bouff and i asked @charlieholtz a bunch of fun questions!
In the first episode of our new series Full Stack, @conductor_build CEO and co-founder @charlieholtz takes us into the details of how he sets up his workflow for coding and managing AI agents. 00:00 – Building Conductor With Conductor 01:05 – Managing a Team of Coding Agents 02:39 – Do You Still Write Code? 04:17 – Charlie's AI Stack and Setup 05:48 – “Slop-free” Zones 07:25 – Don’t Let the AI Be Your Architect 09:15 – The Future of Cloud Workspaces 10:40 – Claude vs Codex 12:01 – Tokenmaxxing 14:17 – The Future of Human–AI Collaboration 15:07 – "Code Is Becoming Sawdust"

yep vite+ is the future of js ecosystem tooling void cloud looks pretty sick too 👀
Evan and Boshen are super legit, and they complement each other. Whatever they build is going to be the future of JS ecosystem tooling; hard to imagine a better duo to take this on.

come hang out let’s spend some tokens
At YC, we let our engineers let it rip. There is no limit to the number of tokens you get. If you're at a place that is stingy with tokens, and you have that need for a speed, come to YC and let it rip. ycombinator.com/software

Most "LLM-friendly" patterns are just good engineering practices we were too stubborn to adopt.
Hate to say it, but the functional programmers were right. LLMs love code with explicit inputs/outputs and no side effects.

as much as it offends my personal sensibilities, i think long paragraph+ commit messages are the meta now really high ROI for coding agent context
