What’s the quietest mic I own? That’d be the @LewittAudio LCT 540 S. It is astonishingly good at recording the subtle sounds of almost silent spaces. But there are trade offs. FIELD RECORDING TIP – Try the @LewittAudio LCT 540 S out in the natural world. It’s the quietest mic I’ve ever used (4 dBA of self noise) and it has opened up a whole new world of subtle nature soundscapes for me. Granted, they are difficult to use in the field because they are super heavy and very difficult to wind/rain protect…but (from my first round of tests) the benefits are worth the trouble.
