Our schools need our support. This morning’s conversation with MCPS was a great opportunity to hear from our school board about how we can help at the state level. By working together, we can strengthen our schools and create better opportunities for students and educators.

Congratulations to Dr. Linton on this exciting appointment. As a VT alum, welcome home! Our community here in Blacksburg & the NRV are excited to see what this new chapter brings. I look forward to working together to make VT a place where all students, faculty, & staff thrive.
The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors has appointed Richard Linton as the university’s 17th president. Linton, an alumnus, will succeed Tim Sands, who will continue as president until Linton assumes office at the start of the spring semester. ➡️ go.vt.edu/utpP4

Today, we celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day by honoring the strength, culture, and contributions of Indigenous communities. We recognize the traditions, wisdom, and history, while honoring this community's enduring connection to this land long before we called Virginia home.

Rates are too high. Appalachian Power requesting another rate increase is nothing short of a money-grab. Virginians cannot afford for power companies to continuously put profits over people. I urge the SCC to reject this request and put Virginians first. cardinalnews.org/2026/10/01/…

This merger is a bad deal for Virginians. Thank you @ltgovhashmi for hearing from Southwest Virginia about our concerns for rising electric rates. Costs are out of control, it’s up to us to fight back and bring us back to a Virginia affordable for everyone.

Agriculture is imperative to the success of our Commonwealth. This year’s AG Committee retreat, we had the opportunity to tour farms, hear from industry leaders, & learn how to make the farming industry the best it can be. Thank you to all work hard to keep VA fed & cared for!

It’s been 25 years since September 11, 2001. Today we thank & honor the first responders who sprung to action in New York & the DMV to rescue the victims of that horrific terror attack. May we never forget those lost & the way our nation came together in a time of immense crisis.

Thank you to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office for pausing Flock systems & taking a hard look at the negative impact they have on our community. I hope you will take the concerns of our constituents into consideration as you examine current policies. wsls.com/news/local/2026/09/…

We can’t sit back as the administration continues to betray hardworking Americans. This move to suspend tariffs and sell foreign beef below market cost will inevitably harm our already struggling cattle farmers. Please support Virginia’s cattle farmers. vabeef.org/beef-home/how-to-…
The cost of meat is high at the grocery store – so what does President Trump intend to do? He plans to flood the market with foreign, imported beef that WE – the American taxpayer – are going to subsidize. This is nothing more than a campaign gimmick in advance of November, and it’s a gimmick he’s employing at the expense of American farmers. I wrote a letter to the Trump Administration urging them to reconsider: governor.virginia.gov/newsro…
