#JCLSpotlight: Sitosterol is highly effective for identifying ST, but its diagnostic performance declines in gray zone cases. A combined sterol-based model improves discrimination & supports a stepwise diagnostic strategy for children with suspected ST. 🔗ow.ly/x4Ey50ZZJq8
#JCLSpotlight: Infants of mothers living with ASCVD, but not those with FH, had higher risks of adverse birth outcomes and increased healthcare utilization in this retrospective US cohort study. 🔗ow.ly/L9aF50ZZJbz
#JCLSpotlight: NMR-derived total HDL particle concentration, rather than HDL-C, is independently associated with all-cause mortality in LTRs. HDL-P captures dimensions of HDL not reflected by HDL-C and could be an important mortality biomarker. 🔗ow.ly/6SR350ZZIXJ
We're thrilled to share that Daniel Gaudet, MD, PhD and Michael Miller, MD have been promoted from Associate Editors to Deputy Editors of the JCL. Their contributions have been invaluable & this is a well-deserved recognition of the impact they continue to make on the field.

🤔How safe are nonstatin LDL-C–lowering therapies?
👉New meta-analysis in @LipidJournal
1⃣ 41 randomized trials, 104,672 participants
2⃣ No increase in overall adverse events (RR 1.00) or serious adverse events (RR 0.98).
3⃣ No significant muscle, hepatic, or neurocognitive safety signals.
4⃣ Modest increase in discontinuations due to adverse events (RR 1.08) and investigator-attributed drug-related events (RR 1.23).
5⃣ Bempedoic acid: lower myalgia risk (RR 0.85)
👆 Clinical takeaway: Fear of serious toxicity should not be a barrier to appropriate LDL-C lowering. These findings support the safety of nonstatin therapies and their use in combination strategies when indicated

👉Lp(a)HORIZON: could tolerability and treatment exposure have influenced the result?
👆Targeted Lp(a)-lowering therapies: tolerability matters too.
1⃣ Emerging therapies achieve substantial Lp(a) reductions, with generally favorable safety profiles in early trials.
2⃣ In pelacarsen’s phase 2 trial, injection-site reactions occurred in 27% vs 6% with placebo, while discontinuation due to adverse events was similar: 5% vs 4%.
3⃣ More local reactions do not necessarily translate into treatment withdrawal or reduced exposure.
4⃣ Comparisons across agents require caution: dosing schedules, follow-up and adverse-event reporting differ between trials.
5⃣ Adherence and sustained Lp(a) lowering may help contextualize cardiovascular outcome findings, including HORIZON. Any contribution of treatment interruptions to its negative result remains speculative.
Substantial Lp(a) lowering is established. Its translation into cardiovascular benefit remains the key question.
The depth and duration of Lp(a) lowering may matter. Whether reduced treatment exposure contributed to HORIZON’s result remains an open question.

We're heading into #NLAFall with an updated LDL-C Management Simplified, part of the Lipid Simplified Series published in @LipidJournal.
This updated manuscript distills the 2026 Dyslipidemia Guideline into practical, actionable guidance for clinicians managing LDL-C in both primary and secondary prevention settings. It incorporates the PREVENT ASCVD calculator for updated risk assessment and was designed with real-world practice in mind.
Whether you're heading to Orlando for #NLAFall, joining virtually, or simply staying current from your own practice, this is the ideal primer before the science kicks off.

In honor of #CholesterolMonth, the NLA is proud to release the second installment of the Lipids Simplified Series: Lipoprotein(a) Management Simplified.
Following the success of our LDL-C Management Simplified publication, we felt there was no more timely or necessary topic to tackle next than Lp(a).
Authored by leading Lp(a) experts Marlys L. Koschinsky, PhD, FNLA and Christie M. Ballantyne, MD, MNLA, this article and accompanying infographic are designed to distill the complexity surrounding Lp(a) into clear, actionable guidance for clinicians. Our goal is simple: make this essential science more accessible and easier to apply in everyday practice.
