An 86-year-old sailor and his dog have been rescued after a multi-day search in the Pacific Ocean.
The sailing vessel Willow Wind had been reported overdue while travelling from Astoria, Oregon, to Pago Pago, American Samoa. After its emergency beacon activated, a U.S. Coast Guard aircraft located the damaged sailboat approximately 460 miles off San Diego.
Rough seas initially prevented a safe transfer, but the crew of the merchant vessel Grand Orion later rescued both occupants. A Coast Guard helicopter subsequently transported them to San Diego, where the sailor was taken for medical evaluation.
The rescue shows why emergency beacons and properly filed voyage plans can be lifesaving.

Pictured below was 50 year old Lydia Bravo who was an occupational nurse with Marsh McLennan where Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower. She and her fiance had just returned to the city the day before from a week-long vacation in Mexico and that month they were going to celebrate their 11th year of being together. She had graduated from Manhattan College as a registered nurse and had spent eight years as a nurse in the oncology unit at Cornell Medical center. To forget even a single one of these people is a blasphemy!

He was born in Belgium near Brussels and had emigrated to the United States in 1995 to work for Marsh McLennan. At the time of the attack he was living with his girlfriend Lupe in the Bronx and they had just begun house hunting since they planned to get married. His remains were identified in 2014 and to forget even a single one of these people is a blasphemy!
