I feel like Jared Kushner being at the center of the plot that ultimately led to an American journalist being dismembered via bone saw while he was still alive should be a much bigger deal than our billionaire owned news media is making of it.

Marie Wilcox realized she was the last person on Earth who could speak the Wukchumni anguage fluently, so at 82, she taught herself to use a computer and spent seven years typing a 6,000 word Wukchumni dictionary, the first written record of the language in history, to save it from extinction.

276 years apart. China’s oldest tree — a 4,500-year-old cypress at Songyang Academy in Dengfeng, Henan — as painted by the Qing Emperor Qianlong, and as it stands today. More than two millennia earlier, Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24) granted it the title “Second Great General.”

The number of people injured in the Russian strike on a university campus and the surrounding area yesterday evening has risen to 12. Five of them are students and university staff. While emergency services were helping people and dealing with the aftermath of the first strike, the Russians used ballistic missiles again. In total, 16 ballistic missiles were launched overnight. More than 280 drones as well. Tragically, there have been casualties and hits in Kyiv, including on the South Bridge. A serious escalation in Russia’s operation against our logistics. There were also strikes on the Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, Chernihiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Kherson, and Chernivtsi regions. Almost everywhere, Russia’s targets were the energy sector, logistics, and ordinary urban infrastructure. The artificial and prolonged delays in the delivery of interceptor packages for Patriot and NASAMS systems, which unfortunately have occurred recently, are directly helping Russia achieve the objectives of its terrorist campaign. Every such delay means another Russian strike on one facility or another. Unfortunately, strikes are taking place every day. Russia is constantly taking new steps toward escalation. Pressure on Russia and real support for Ukraine are needed to change the situation. I thank everyone who truly supports our efforts to protect lives and understands the importance of support packages arriving on time. We must bring peace closer and save lives. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!

Here is a complete list of the 25 speed cameras that went live today in L.A. h/t @NBCLA
Starting TODAY, the City of Los Angeles is rolling out an automated speed camera system, with 125 locations across the city designed to catch drivers going too fast. I want to discuss how they operate, the fines associated, and where exactly they’re located. Let’s get into it!

Russian ballistic missiles struck the grounds of a university in Kyiv and the area around it – effectively the campus, Kyoto Park, the area near a metro station, and residential buildings. The exact number of casualties is not yet known. But tragically, there are victims. There are people injured. Rescue operations are underway. There is extensive damage, and there are also reports that people may be trapped under the rubble. All emergency services are at the scene and doing their work – saving lives. The missiles hit very crowded areas, and there is not a single military facility nearby. This was a strike directly on the city, on its infrastructure. Unfortunately, there may be more strikes coming. The attack with “shaheds” is also continuing – against Kyiv and our other cities and communities. And it is precisely under such circumstances, when the threat is constant, when strikes can come at any moment and target cities and villages directly, that artificial delays in providing air defense to Ukraine help terror. It is important that political agreements be implemented promptly at the team level. It is important that our partners understand that Ukraine needs the proper tools to destroy Russian ballistic missile launchers. This would be the most effective way to save lives. It is important that the world sees that Russia is showing nothing but a desire to kill and continue waging war. Ukraine must not be left to face this alone, and it is solely Russia’s fault that the war is still going on and people are still dying. Please take care of yourselves. All partners should stand with Ukraine – with the protection of lives.

What a joy and honor it was to speak this weekend at the Arizona Women’s Board Author’s Luncheon in Phoenix. It’s not every day that I get to hang out with such wonderful writers: Andrew Sean Greer, Pamela Meyer, Douglas Preston, yours truly, Kathryn Stockett & Adriana Trigiani.

The key words here are “We’re making.” Yep, he and his family…
TRUMP on HIGH GAS PRICES: We’re making money like we’ve never made before. They’ll say: President Trump is bragging about all the money they're making while people are suffering at the pump. I don’t give a damn. We’re making a freaking fortune.

MAGA says Ilhan Omar isn't using her real name. Melania Trump was born Melanija Knavs. Ted Cruz was born Rafael Edward Cruz. JD Vance was born James Donald Bowman. Nikki Haley was born Nimarata Nikki Randhawa. Mike Johnson's real first name is James. Rand Paul is Randal Paul. Newt Gingrich was born Newton Leroy McPherson. But suddenly MAGA wants a congressional investigation into names?

This footage is from the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. Look at that little Ukrainian boy, walking towards the border in tears, surrounded by families fleeing a Russian invasion. Now consider the extraordinary moral bankruptcy of Trump, Rubio, Hegseth and Musk, whose message to Ukraine increasingly amounts to: “Fuck Ukraine. Russia gets our sympathy.” Meanwhile, Steve Witkoff apparently sees Putin as some sort of humanitarian. Quite remarkable. Most people can distinguish a humanitarian from a man whose army bombs hospitals and forces children to flee their homes. Apparently, this requires a level of intellectual sophistication beyond certain members of the American establishment. It hardly takes a magnificent imagination to work out which side these gentlemen might have found more accommodating in 1939. “Never again” was supposed to mean something. It wasn’t a decorative slogan to be dusted off once a year while making excuses for the next dictator. And to those who admire Russia as some glorious defender of Western civilisation, perhaps try learning something about the country. Russia has millions of Muslim citizens. It is hardly the anti-Muslim paradise some of its Western admirers imagine. Nor does Putin’s dictatorship represent the democratic freedoms they claim to cherish. But then, understanding history, geography or basic human decency does rather spoil the pleasure of having absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. That little boy understood who the aggressor was. Remarkable how many supposedly powerful adults still struggle with it.

I'm deeply disturbed to learn of yet another ICE detainment in Santa Maria — this time, ICE agents violently detained a student with disabilities while they were walking to school. The student is a U.S. citizen and sustained injuries severe enough that they needed surgery. This is outrageous and we should not tolerate these tactics. Our schools must remain safe places for students and families, free from fear, intimidation, and racial profiling. As we see an increase in ICE's presence across the Central Coast, it is important you know your constitutional rights.
