Russia has escalated again in the Black Sea, attacking a commercial vessel off Romania’s coast. One sailor was killed, others remain missing.
Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. Attacks on civilian shipping are attacks on freedom of navigation and the rules-based international order.
#Lithuania stands firm with #Romania. The answer must be clear: more pressure, tougher sanctions, and stronger investment in the security and resilience of the Eastern Flank of #NATO and the whole Europe.
Russia’s aggression must come at a higher cost.#
Warm congratulations, dear @AustriaatEU, on your National Day! 🇱🇹❤️🇦🇹
Congratulations to our Austrian friends on #Austria's 🇦🇹 National Day! Lithuania looks forward to further strengthening bilateral ties, deepening cooperation within 🇪🇺 & working closely to support Ukraine and enhance European security. Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Nationalfeiertag!
Foreign Minister @BudrysKestutis at the informal #FAC Trade meeting in Dublin today: 'We have to address all the adversary policies from China's side. It is against our fundamentals and our economic security.'

Strategic awareness comes first.
At the informal meeting of EU trade ministers in Dublin, I highlighted that economic security must be the watchword in Europe’s approach to #China. The #EU needs to push back against unfair practices, reduce vulnerabilities, defend critical industries, and work with reliable partners.

#Lithuania fully supports #Austria in its decision to expel Russian diplomats engaged in activities incompatible with the Vienna Convention.
Russian spies have no place in Europe. They pose a real threat to our security. We must continue showing Kremlin – not with words, but with actions – that their malign activities will not go unchecked and unpunished.
Looking forward to working closely together with @EU_EESC and @CSOGroupEESC during the Lithuania's Presidency of the EU Council! 🇪🇺
Thank you, dear @CillianLohan, for an interesting discussion on main priorities for Lithuania's upcoming EU Council Presidency.
Civil society plays a vital role in strengthening 🇪🇺 and its democratic resilience. I look forward to our continued cooperation.
Congratulatuons on the Republic Day, @HungaryintheEU ! 🇱🇹🤝🇭🇺
Congratulations to the people of #Hungary on Republic Day and the 1956 Revolution Memorial Day! The courage and unity shown by 🇭🇺 in 1956 remain a lasting symbol of the fight for freedom, inspiring us to stand with Ukraine today. Boldog nemzeti ünnepet, kedves magyar barátaink!

Always a warm and conversation with @Europarl_EN Secretary General Alessandro Chiocchetti about our cooperation during the Lithuanian EU Council Presidency. One of the key projects - common work on the Pan-European monument commemorating the victims of totalitarian regimes.

Lithuania, Spain and the Netherlands won an EU Twinning project to support Ukraine’s railway reform. Backed by €1.5 million in EU funding, the 30-month initiative will align 🇺🇦’s rail sector with 🇪🇺 standards and support its integration into the Trans-European Transport Network.

Shameful decision by the @WorldPentathlon to strip #Lithuania of its World Cup event for refusing to turn a blind eye to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. This sets a dangerous precedent and sends a fundamentally wrong message.
Lithuania’s position has been clear from day one: we will not help normalise the participation of representatives of aggressor states — Russia and Belarus — in international sport. Russia continues its brutal war against #Ukraine, while Belarus remains complicit in enabling that.
The EU must tighten restrictions on Russian and Belarusian athletes competing under national colours, expand visa bans and sanctions, and cut support for those enabling state-sponsored propaganda.
Lithuania will never normalise aggression. We will stand with Ukraine not only when it is convenient, but especially when it is not.

Within hours today, #Lithuania faced two serious security incidents. Overnight, a sabotage attempt targeting Starlink infrastructure near Vilnius was thwarted. Its purpose was clear: to undermine a capability critical to #Ukraine’s defence and civilian communications.
This morning, an unidentified UAV violated Lithuanian airspace, posing a risk to our citizens and their property.
Both incidents are a direct consequence of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and its wider repercussions for European security. Hybrid attacks, sabotage, and airspace incursions threaten critical infrastructure, spread fear, and seek to undermine European support for Ukraine.
Lithuania supports, and will continue to support Ukraine in exercising its inherent right of self-defence, in full accordance with Article 51 of the #UN Charter. We also urge Russia to immediately cease its aggression against Ukraine.
We remain vigilant. Attacks against our critical infrastructure will be investigated, exposed, and met with resolve. We stand with our Allies and with Ukraine.
Lithuania marks a symbolic milestone by opening the first green hydrogen production and refueling station in the Baltic states.⚛️
Hydrogen’s environmental appeal is straightforward: using it releases no carbon dioxide, as reaction with oxygen only produces water and electricity.
In just a few years, Lithuania became one of the fastest clean-energy transitions in the EU, now seeking 100% renewable domestic electricity by 2028. ♻️

Lithuanian President @GitanasNauseda is attending #EUCO today.
His message at the doorstep was clear: we need to reach the deal for the next EU budget and it must remain ambitious, we need to continue our full support to Ukraine and keep pressure of russia.
Today, I arrived at #EUCO determined to reach the #MFF deal until the end of the year.
The proposal of the Irish Presidency is well balanced and preserves the CAP and the Cohesion Policy. However, we need to keep intact the CEF funding, especially on military mobility & Eastern border regions.
The budget needs to be ambitious. The size of the budget matters. Further cuts to the funding would risk losing EU priorities!

In a phone call with @eucopresident António Costa, I stressed the need for the EU to focus on supporting Ukraine and phasing out Russian energy resources.
At the #EUCO this week, I expect a serious discussion on competitiveness and #MFF priorities. The EU’s eastern flank must get the attention it deserves!
Lithuania has frozen the assets of Mikhail Fridman and Alisher Usmanov under its national sanctions regime.
The Kremlin’s war against #Ukraine is sustained by powerful interests that continue to benefit from and support Russia’s aggression. When two influential Russian oligarchs were removed from the #EU sanctions list, it sent the wrong signal.
#Lithuania is taking action and will not look away. Today, we froze the assets of Mikhail Fridman and Alisher Usmanov under our national sanctions regime. Sanctions pressure on Russia and its war enablers must be strengthened and sustained.
Ambassador @nerijusale officially presented #LT27EU priorities for the first time. The priorities include defence and security, competitiveness and the new multiannual financial framework (MFF), EU enlargement, internal security and societal resilience, and social policy issues.
It was a great honour to present #LT27EU priorities to the Committee of the Regions.
We will focus on defence and security, competitiveness and the new multiannual financial framework (MFF), EU enlargement, internal security and societal resilience, and social policy issues.
