S2 spindash enabled btw
Unrelated fun fact: you can use the speed cap to adjust yourself midair and go up faster, it's almost like it was designed with it in mind. Would be a shame if a certain remake disabled the speed cap by default. (Don't mind the music)

This is actually a result of the old game having slight weirdness when it comes to slopes. This was fixed in Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and carried over into the remasters from CD onwards.
I hate the remake physics so much, I can't even walk a slope

This was really funny to uncover lmao
The 2013 remake of Sonic 2 directly ported the Death Egg Robot from the original game, but broke the way its arms launched at Sonic.

not sure if this post in particular is still a bit or not, but; the original game has roll-jump lock. it's a part of the remaster as well. It exists also in S2 (OG & Remaster) and Sonic 3 (with it not being implemented in the remake due to lack of code.)
Jokes aside why do we glaze the christian whitehead ports you can't even turn in air mid spindash and you lose all momentum jumping sometimes just fucking emulate the game at this point CD doesn't suffer from this cause peelout but GOD this sucks

i'm used to it being there since i work on the remasters and have cross compared behaviors to the original games for Origins Ultrafix. as for jumping and losing speed (by a direction key?), that's the air speed cap, and that's a level select option you'd need to enable yourself.

yeah, seems about right.
BRO, OPUS 5.5 IS ACTUALLY INSANE 😭πŸ”₯ It decompiled and natively ported StarFox, StarFox 2, and Sonic CD to Windows, Mac, and Linux. No REA or specialized skills. Just Claude, the game ROMs, and a simple prompt. Even added higher resolutions, better framerates, controller support, and more. πŸ’€ πŸ”— Sonic CD: github.com/carlosrmz009/litt… πŸ”— StarFox: github.com/carlosrmz009/arwi… πŸ”— StarFox 2: github.com/carlosrmz009/arwi… The prompt was basically: β€œFully decompile this game so it runs natively on my PC.” AI coding is entering a different era. 🀯

at this point, people are just better off playing Sonic Origins as is, instead of playing this.

personally, im not one to gatekeep a way to play the game realistically, however, users should play the original (or something close to the original, like the remakes) before going straight to mods.
I dont agree with Stelmo take but... are we seriously gatekeeping how we enjoy the classics? really?

this is probably very obvious to some, but opinions of a game should be made from the raw, unmodded experience. everyone should develop their own opinions, too. don't just feed off anyone else. this includes from people you know or see on social medias.

this has been a consistent issue within many fandoms and it kinda sucks, being honest. some people even miss out on whole games just because they tried one fraction of a franchise and never picked it up again!

to be completely fair with you the visual of the badnik looks like it implies that it has an always active hurtbox. other badniks have that, so like...?
Replying to @Bron275M
it's consistent and it doesn't work in the remake because of course it doesn't
