On this 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Jesus reminds us that love of God and love of neighbour are inseparable. Faith is not just what we profess, but how we live it, especially in our compassion, generosity, and care for others. (Matthew 22:34-40)
On a day when @BarnetFC stood together against racism, this abuse of Isaiah Noel-Williams is particularly shameful. At S Lawrence’s, we stand with Isaiah and the Club. Every person bears God’s image. Racism has no place in football or society. 🐝 #kickitout

Good to see our @BarnetFC players wearing EFL Together Against Racism training tops today. London is a world city, proud of its diversity, yet conscious and unconscious bias persist, in football and beyond. We can and must do better. 🐝 #BarnetFC #Kickoutracism
Remembering fellow 🐝 fans like Lee matters because a football club is more than results and league tables. It is a community of friendship, loyalty and shared memories. Lee remains part of the Barnet family. Our thoughts and prayers are with all who mourn him. RIP. #BarnetFC
Remembering Lee Crocker 🧡🖤
Please join us for a minute’s applause in the 58th minute today to remember Lee 👏🏻

I was six when I saw the pictures of Aberfan on 21 October 1966, too young to understand the tragedy. Sixty years on, we remember those who died and pray for all who still carry the trauma. #Aberfan60 #Aberfan
So who got the response to the Psalm wrong at Mass today: Universalis, the Lectionary, or priest? The readings and Psalm were identical, but the responses differed. Celebrant on Universalis, reader on Lectionary. Cue confusion! 😵💫
‘Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God.’ In a world of political division, Jesus reminds us that coins bear the image of rulers, but people bear the image of God. Every person deserves dignity, justice and love.
Barnet, the comeback kings once again! 🐝⚽ Whatever the setbacks, this side shows remarkable resilience, character and drive. Credit too for some excellent substitutions that changed the game. There’s real belief and determination in this squad. COYB! 🐝 #BarnetFC

Is this the bit where we get to watch the surplices being lovingly ironed and the choir robes laid out before Evensong? Asking for those of us who don’t find ecclesiastical laundry as thrilling as the liturgy! 😇
Worship with us as we steam the First Evensong of the Dedication of Westminster Abbey at 3pm (BST) today.
The service is part of our annual Edwardtide celebrations. It will be sung by the Abbey Choir and the St Margaret's Choristers with music by Bruckner, Stanford and Wesley.
You can watch either live or on demand at: youtube.com/live/lNkUqWgxNtg…

ALT A high-angle view of a choir service inside Westminster Abbey with gothic arches and a black-and-white checkered floor. The choir members, wearing red cassocks and white surplices, stand in rows facing each other on either side of the central aisle, holding sheet music. A conductor in white and red vestments stands at a lectern between the choir rows. In the background, a golden altar is visible. An overlay at the top contains the text: "National Pilgrimage Solemn Evensong Saturday 17th October" in white serif font on a semi-transparent dark blue banner.

At Compline tonight, we pray for Pope Leo @pontifex and all in hospital. Watch, dear Lord, with those who wake, watch or weep. Tend the sick, give rest to the weary, bless those who care for them, and enfold us all in your peace. Amen.
Pope Leo XIV underwent thoracic surgery at Gemelli Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, as planned, according to a statement from Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora released by the Holy See Press Office.
The surgeons removed the lower lobe of the Pope’s right lung, and tissue examined during the operation confirmed the diagnosis of “lung adenocarcinoma,” as suspected from tests conducted beforehand.
The Pope was in the operating room approximately three hours, while the operation itself lasted about 90 minutes. The doctors said it was successful and there were no complications.
Pope Leo awoke normally after surgery and, following a brief period of observation, returned to his room on the hospital’s 10th floor, according to the statement.

God’s kingdom is no private members’ club. Today’s Gospel invites everyone to the feast, especially those society overlooks. But accepting the invitation means more than turning up. We’re called to clothe ourselves in love and mercy. Matthew 22:1–14 #Sunday
As Dean says “nobody gets promoted in October. There’s a long road ahead, and we’ll take it one game at a time.” But that second half and those three points must go down in the annals as a truly fantastic game! What a ride! 🐝🐝🐝⚽️ #BarnetFC
What an outstanding second-half performance from the Bees! Real determination, quality and belief. Three fantastic points, thoroughly deserved, and a brilliant way to return from the international break! Up the Bees! 🐝⚽️ #BarnetFC
Zac Williams! What wasn’t there to like about that goal? Absolutely everything you want to see from the Bees. Brilliant stuff! 🐝⚽️ Keep your heads now 🐝🐝 #BarnetFC
There is no such thing as “minor sexual abuse”, whoever the perpetrator, least of all a priest entrusted with the care of others. Sexual abuse is sexual abuse. To describe it as “minor” trivialises the suffering of victims. A dreadful headline.
An Irish priest pleads guilty to minor sex abuse, Glasgow shutters 24 churches and half its parishes, the UAE gets a new Vatican ambassador, and more in this week’s Catholic world news roundup:

Having not travelled on the Tube for three weeks, what a pleasant surprise to find the train information boards finally working on the southbound Metropolitan line platform at Wembley Park! At long last! Good things really do come to those who wait! 🚇 @TfL
Love having LHR24/7 on in the background while we work. Planes, engines, a little escapism - and a tree apparently auditioning for a starring role. Could it please be persuaded to move? We tuned in for air traffic, not a very slow documentary about branches 😜
With attention focused on London-Heathrow today, we’re pleased to announce our newest 24/7 automated live stream is now available at LHR! With a camera hosted by @BigJetTVLIVE and fed by Flightradar24 ADS-B data, incredible views are just a click away: youtube.com/live/SgvpyjQX_HM
