Had a very productive meeting with Tfl this morning re the Streatham Hill / A23 cycle lanes / new crossings / bus stops.
Contrary to the misinformation some are sharing, the bus stops, crossings & protected cycle lanes WILL BE INCLUSIVE & ACCESSIBLE.
Including for VI folk.

I went to the TfL / Lambeth exhibition of plans for the new cycle lanes on Streatham High Road. It looks great.
When I arrived there were lots of drivers chanting “better things aren’t possible” & “let’s never improve anything.”
Construction starts in 6 weeks, can’t wait.

We are dismayed our LTN is to be removed given the multiple community benefits and wide spread support 😔
We ask Lambeth council to reintroduce it after consulting on a permanent traffic order 💚

We would like to offer HUGE thanks to everyone who has supported us so far. If you have not done so, there is still time to comment on the change of use. If you have problems with the Lambeth portal, you can send an email. All the information here - streathamhilltheatre.org/cam…

Lower Marsh in Waterloo. Pedestrianised and clearly with very chill licensing laws. Even the greengrocer has people on tables outside drinking wine! More of this! A more fun world is possible!

Giving children some space back, denied to them by the phenomenal rise of motor vehicles 💚

It’s disingenuous to say he wasn’t consulted.
We’ve both been at meetings where it was discussed in length.
There’s a lot of support for this locally -those pushing back are wealthier 🚗 owners who don’t want streets for ppl.
Genuinely don’t see how it’s “inaccessible” at all.

Abbeville Road in Clapham was closed to cars today as a one-day trial and the results were... incredible. Basically unrecognisable

Thank goodness work will finally start on the A23.
The against everythings are now complaining that a quarter of the local population has changed in the time they’ve held everything up.
So they want to ensure no progress ever by starting all over again with a consultation…

Very excited to see the new Streatham to Peckham Healthy Route take shape - Roycroft Close so much easier to cycle through already! 🚲🌿🚴🏼♀️

Valley Road has been a sewer in recent months & it was only a matter of time before someone got hurt. I hope the kid gets better soon. We need the LTN back.

The image that perfectly symbolises the endgame of anti-LTN activists in Streatham.
All is well when the Audi SUV is illegally blocking a zebra crossing behind another car also illegally blocking it and pumping its fumes into the narrow corridor drivers expect children to use.

Charing Cross Road, pedestrianised today. Glorious. Because whenever you take cars away, cities get better.

Hive Charity Café in Streatham Hill do brilliant work in our community.
I’m appalled by recent vandalism and criminal activity targeting the café and have raised this with the police.
Please consider donating to their crowdfunder to repair the damage👇🏼
