As you said, this applies to all fiction. Did Archie consent to masses of people watching his romantic struggles? Did Bruce Wayne consent to being forced to relive his childhood trauma over and over for the amusement of generations? Or, you could look at it positively:

I only stop in here maybe once or twice a day now (cough Hairy Elephant cough), but I notice the "Verified" tab (which I never used) is no longer on the interface. Perhaps it sank in no one ever thought "verified" meant "higher quality content"? (Even less so post-Musk)

No idea what their back-end storage is like; I assume some sort of DB that stores it as text, possibly compressed. Articles are marked up in BBCode and include links to images, other articles, etc, via what looks like a GUID. Here's the editor vs. the renderer:
