Dramatic video posted by the Baltimore Firefighters’ union (IAFF local 734) shows the rescue of a person from a burning building in East Baltimore yesterday. The union says ⬇️ “We know you hear our concerns about apparatus being placed out of service because of broken equipment. We say it time and time again: seconds count. This video shows exactly what we mean, and why having properly staffed, properly equipped apparatus available matters. This footage is from yesterday’s dwelling fire in the 2000 block of Boone Street in the 12th district of East Baltimore. With the proper ladders placed, the members of Truck 5 were able to remove a citizen from the burning dwelling. Our members are here every single day, ready to protect the citizens of Baltimore. When someone is trapped inside a burning home, there is no time to spare. Every firefighter, every piece of equipment, and every second matters. Seconds count. Readiness matters. Lives depend on it.”
