After several impassioned speeches from the floor, AB5, the film tax credits have failed to garner enough support. The bill is dead, but could come back up for reconsideration. Lawmakers also left the door open to discussing it again in the '27 regular. #nvleg

We are experiencing the worst tourism numbers since the pandemic in Las Vegas. Visitation is down 7.9% this year thanks to the #TrumpSlump. @LVCVA
The decline in tourism has put a dent in the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority’s revenue stream with room tax and gaming fee receipts down 14 percent from a year ago in the first quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year. reviewjournal.com/business/t…

FILM BILL SURVIVES: The vote on La Rue Hatch’s procedural motion was 21-21, meaning it failed and the film tax credit bill was still sent to committee. Still, it appears the proposal doesn’t yet have enough votes to pass. Here’s how lawmakers voted:

It appears Assembly leaders are whipping votes on the floor as we speak. New speaker pro tem Assm. Elaine Marzola appeared to be tallying votes on a Post-it note

Details on the procedural maneuver playing out now:
Replying to @eric_neugeboren
This is the rule that La Rue Hatch is referring to. It states that a member can object to a bill, and if that motion receives a majority approval, the bill cannot be considered. Assembly leadership are huddling on the floor now.

Before it can be referred to committee, Assm. Selena La Rue Hatch (D) is objecting to Assembly Bill 5, the film tax credit measure. She moved to reject the bill and we’re now in recess
