My coworker spent one year in Tennessee.
He came back to Tokyo two months ago.
He is not the same man.
He says "y'all" in meetings. To our boss.
He holds the door for the entire floor. Twelve people. Every morning.
He asked the convenience store clerk how her day was going. She had to sit down.
He calls every man "bud." Including the CEO.
He refuses to describe anything under three hours away as "far."
He waves at drivers who let him cross. One driver waved back and almost hit a pole.
Last week, he told a junior employee, "I'm proud of you."
She went to the restroom and cried for ten minutes.
We thought it would wear off.
It didn't. It's spreading.
Three people in accounting now say "y'all."
The junior employee holds the door.
The convenience store clerk asks HIM how his day is going.
Tennessee, I don't know what you did to him.
Please do it to the rest of us.
Losing my best friend to suicide a couple years ago and reconnecting with mutuals from Canada in Japan has had me being introspective about friendships and just wanted to share a message with everyone (sorry in advance for the long post)
If you see something beautiful in someone, tell them. Tell them.
Because most people, they go through life never being told why they’re special. They’re always being told, “What’s wrong with you? You need to fix this. You need to change that. You’re all wrong.”
But if you can really see in someone’s soul and you can see it’s good, you tell them. Tell them.
And I’m not just talking about their appearance. Tell them they’re kind. If you feel it, tell them they’re being lovely, they’re being generous. Tell them their potential, whatever. Tell them.
Because years later, when they’re on a real low, on their darkest days, when they’re struggling, you never know. That might be the thing that they remember, and they’re like, “Someone saw the light in me when I can see nothing in myself. They saw it.”
And it might be enough just to get them through the day. Might be.
So tell them. Tell them they’re lovely.
Because they need it. We need it. I need it.
We need that.
I Lobe you ❤️

I made a life changing decision this weekend.
Now that all my friends are here, I guess it's time for a BIG life update ⤵️
The broader perception of value is about to shift completely for NFTs.
Legacy museums are quietly collecting digital art at the absolute bottom.
Masses will rush back the second they realize exactly who is accumulating who is using these as pfps and who is actually absorbing the supply while it is cheap.
We are sitting at the baseline of the chart right now.
Keep collecting and buckle up because digital art is the ultimate destination
