Hello, as of this term I teach Year 5 - in the attached Google Drive I will put all my reading lessons for free - most of them match to our specific curriculum or our current class novel (atm What's That In Dog Years) but they may be useful for you.

This afternoon Neptune used string telephones to investigate how sound travels. We discovered that sound travels much better when the string is tight than when it is baggy and also that sound doesn’t travel so well when the string is touching something. @DEMAT__ @CEO_DEMAT

To complement our history learning, Neptune have had a fantastic Roman themed day today. Artefact handling, Julius Caesar investigation and learning about life in the Roman army. What an amazing day of learning! @DEMAT__ @CEO_DEMAT
Love this idea! Super way to ensure ALL children have a chance to start their day with a full tummy and hopefully make the most of their learning!
Starting Monday 9th January @LAWatergall we will be offering a FREE toasted breakfast bagel to all children to kick start the day.
Such an incredible experience for the children - and tailored perfectly to our learning in science this half term. Highly recommended!
Neptune class also had a visit from @ZooLabUK They learnt lots of interesting facts about habitat, diet and country of origin.
Not too keen on Elvis the Tarantula!

Calling Primary Teachers!
There is a brilliant *FREE* 1-year course in Latin being offered by @classicsforall to help primary teachers of any course develop their own Latin.
Hi @AnnaFargher my class are LOVING your new book. They would love to know how many words it is. We are challenging ourselves to see how many words we can read this year. Thanks :)
My kind of nerdy delivery. Perfect to come home to on #wellbeingwednesday 👌🏽
What impressive work! @classicsforall would be very proud 👌🏽
Over the past few weeks, our KS2 pupils have been using the fantastic resources from @charlieandrew to explore and manipulate ancient word roots in their Latin lessons. What super work! @CEO_DEMAT @DEMAT__

From September we will be teaching Latin following a combination of @minimus_latin and Maximum Classics. During the summer term, I would like teachers to experiment with some fun, practical, introductory lessons. Does anyone have any recommendations for resources?

Why use Latin to improve literacy instead of English? @charlieandrew explains "you give the kids a toolkit for understanding words. If you know magnus means great, you understand 'magnitude' and 'magnified'... and why magnum ice creams are too big to have before your tea!"

This week, Neptune class have been studying a wordless picture book called “The Island” by Mark Janssen. With a little help from @MrsWOfficial and a collaborative word bank, we created these word waiter poems. What ambitious vocabulary! @CEO_DEMAT @DEMAT__
