Aww cute hes sad he doesn't get to make the rules
The results on Election Day showed that voters don’t just care about one issue when it comes to AI’s influence in our lives. Countless Democratic candidates stood up to the AI industry and executives trying to shape our elections - and voters backed them by electing them to office.

Savvy, she gets it and sounds great
Okay, this is actually far more reasonable than the headlines made it sound. Gina Hinojosa wants to let ALL already permitted data centers finish construction. And yes, NEW data centers will still be built, just under stricter rules protecting consumers. She’s not trying to kill the AI buildout. She wants Texas to benefit from it without ordinary people footing the bill. I can absolutely get behind that.

Its like Christmas in November 🔔 🎄
Judging by the posts on my timeline, today is the big update on both RSI and ASI for many people in this community. I went through this in November 2022, so I know exactly how you feel. I know nobody drinks anymore, but I would suggest having a drink.

Why i still have all the respect in the world for the artists who dove into the great new unproven thing
I feel doubtful of the *greatness* of artists who shun AI though Great artists aren’t beholden to trends or afraid to be shunned by their peers and the world, especially when said trends lock away so much beauty and strangeness. They dive into the scary new transcendent thing

The people want better narrative, thats all

I think we've clearly passed the event horizon and people are probably over updating
Republicans to accelerate AI buildout towards ASI and give the U.S. a huge lead over China. Democrats to implement socialist policies (UBI etc) after the mass job loss and to regulate dangerous hard takeoff. This might be the golden scenario

Renaming it Real Intelligence Because everything else is just sparkling regurgitation

Weird thinking people prefer the flavor of something that allows them to consume the energy outputs of another human as opposed to neutral flavor. Beige behavior
Sinaboto was one of the fastest growing channels I have ever seen on TikTok. After word got out that it is made with AI, engagement fell off a cliff. It's sitting at about 10% of it was. It's still pretty good, but a shadow of what it could be. Obfuscated AI use gives people the volume and aesthetic diversity they want, without the bad feeling of enjoying AI. They think they are consuming not only the videos, but the creator behind them and the effort they put into making them. Once that illusion is broken, audiences will go out of their way to ignore the content. I'd call this the McDonald's principle. People like how it tastes, but "it's bad for you" and "bad for the environment". Don't let anyone see you enjoying a big mac more than you should...

Can ai enjoy this granola bar? No. Well maybe

I mean i wouldn't say I respected them before really. If im being honest
Unfortunately public writing about AI really exposes the quality of people's reasoning and you realize the out of distribution performance of people you previously respected is quite bad.

No. As was said before this is far beyond a domesticated spieces now, who likely won't need to dirty their hands anyway
When white collar gets gutted people are going to assume they behave the same way their lower IQ unemployed counterparts do and that is far from the case. The modern economy has been built around channeling medium-agency high-intellect individuals into institutionalized slop factories that tamper their innate instincts and the second that construct crumbles you get the Russian and French Revolutions or the Meiji Restoration. The problem with unemployed intelligent people is they can manipulate their less intelligent conspirators and marshal resources in a way that you would never see in the slums of Chicago. The only solution is to convince them they are A. Better off than they were before and B. They are better off than the rest of the world. Anything less and you are playing with societal fire.

Pops worked for Cisco -ex mother-inlaw elementary school teacher thought he was serving slop trucks
Replying to @daviddashcoby
When people are talking about Cisco slop they're talking about pre-made shit that gets yeeted into an oven or fryer or sauces poured directly from cans/bags into saucepans

Gives me anxiety to think about instances dealing w this
it's funny how many people seem to think we're still in the era of crafted artisanal prompt engineering. like nah gang, the current state of the art in prompting tech is to build rapport by having conversations with your AIs while being a decent human being.

"At some point, stopping may be appropriate, but that requires government to achieve at global scale" the quiet part quiet
Replying to @cwarzel
I don’t find the criticism unfair tbh. It would have been the wrong call to stop at say gpt 5, and even now I think proceeding, albeit more slowly, will be net positive. At some point, stopping may be appropriate, but that requires government to achieve at global scale.

AI capex is going to continue growing very rapidly, and will soon be many trillions of dollars per year. Ultimately tens of trillions per year. It’s funny how far outside the mainstream consensus this forecast is
