‼️‼️ARTIST PLEASE BEWARE WHO YOU SELL TO! And please read til the end! quick post about @/leothechimera aka dragon ball horizons. I’ve been sitting on this for a while because I honestly didn’t want to make a whole post about someone, but I think this is worth talking about. This person buys adoptables from artists, including me, and then posts the artwork they receive on DeviantArt without properly crediting the artists who actually made it. What makes this especially frustrating is that their DeviantArt page presents them as an artist themselves, despite a lot of the artwork being work they commissioned, purchased, or received from other people. I’ve also personally seen an instance where AI-generated artwork was made of Pebbles, a character they adopted and commissioned art of. That is especially concerning to me considering how openly they advocate for AI art while simultaneously owning characters and artwork created by actual artists. There’s nothing wrong with buying an adoptable or commissioning artwork. But buying a character or artwork doesn’t make you the artist who created it. Artists deserve to be credited for their work, especially when you’re publicly displaying that work on your own page. And if you’re going to advocate for AI-generated art, that’s your choice, but I think people deserve to know that you’re also using AI-generated imagery of characters that originated from human artists. I’m not asking anyone to harass this person or send them hate. I’m bringing this up because I think artists deserve proper credit and people should be able to make informed decisions about who they support. If you have commissioned or purchased artwork from someone, credit the artist. If you didn’t draw it, don’t present yourself as the person who did. It’s really that simple. I’ll be including screenshots/examples below so people can look at the information themselves rather than taking my word for it.
