The council’s lack of transparency allowed them to use £600,000 of this money on their own projects. This should have gone back for community consultation.
The SNP, Greens and Your Party denied that.
I’ll never tire standing up for Shettleston.

24 hours on and - as I said on TV this morning - no human being has yet been able to discern whether the SNP-led Scottish Government actually supports the U.K. Government’s decision to consent the Jackdaw field…or not? 🤷♂️

Jackdaw is a welcome, pragmatic decision good for jobs & energy security and signals we are in the North Sea, with the workforce in years to come. The £2 billion transition package is vital. We need the skills & supply chain to build renewables at scale using our own workforce.
Energy Secretary @Miatsf has agreed that the regulator can grant consent for gas to be produced at the licensed Jackdaw field.

I don't hound candidates. I actually admire most of them for the big sacrifices they make & privately often encourage contenders when they fail, & are feeling downhearted & I encourage them to apply again.
That’s seven by my count? Blair famously failed in 12 selections before he finally got Sedgefield. I wonder if something like that would be possible today, given social media and the likes of Crick hounding recurring candidates on @tomorrowsmps. It feels far more restrictive.

This is a pragmatic decision that puts industry before ideology. It’s the right decision.

The limpest of limp statements from the SNP Government, which fails to even welcome the Jackdaw decision.

It was great to visit Nigg yesterday to help open the new factory.
Scottish Secretary @D_G_Alexander visited Sumitomo Electric’s new £350 million facility at Nigg.
Backed by the UK Government, this investment means hundreds of skilled, long-term jobs, a boost for the Highland economy & vital subsea cables to power our clean energy future.

Andy’s not just an advocate of devolution - he’s been a practitioner of it and so speaks with real authority about how empowering communities can deliver better results. We need more of that thinking here in Scotland.
