A renowned child trauma clinic in North Gaza has been destroyed during the war. The man who ran it, feared for his life, yet ignored an Israeli order to evacuate. This is the story of what happened when he stayed. My @bbcworld report: @LunaChildren

Really proud that 'blended’ training right now with @UOSSM in N Syria thanks to Ghalia in Amman, and Mervat there in person. 22 psychosocial workers learning CATT. Then next week a course for #RESCUEorg in Arua, Uganda, led by Umar and Timona. Our wonderful trainers are busy!
Thanks to all who contributed to a wonderful retirement party for Reverend Dismas Bwesigye last Saturday at Butabika Hospital. We are privileged to have worked with him for over ten years on behalf of the children cared for there. He will be SO missed!

#childrensmentalhealthweek2023 it is heartbreaking that this horrific earthquake has devastated areas where so many children already live with trauma created by war. We urge all who can to help without considering political boundaries and remember we are all one human family.
So many children in our troubled world never know what it's like to grow up in a peaceful, healthy and joyful community. We know that what we do is a drop in the ocean, but at least we can help some children to recover mentally, be more resilient and prepare for a better future.
Here are 2 of our 20 trainees role playing therapist and child - a key part of CATT training in northern Uganda this week, hosted by Bishopasilicentre.blogspot.c… Good luck to all for your final assessments tomorrow and many thanks to our wonderful trainers Elias and Sister Florence!

Children & young people around the world are raising their voices on the issues that matter to their generation.
They are my greatest hope.
On #WorldChildrensDay & every day, we must stand up for a more equal and inclusive future #ForEveryChild.
We are delighted that anxiety & resilience training for child care workers of Altakaful Charity in Jordan last week was such a great success. It's great to be training face-to-face once again! Many thanks to our our trainers Dr Ghalia and Fahed who did such wonderful job.
On #WorldMentalHealthDay we want to remind all organisations working with children to train their staff to recognise the signs of #anxiety & #PTSD and to build mental health & #trauma awareness into their programmes. Children's mental wellbeing is so often overlooked by adults.
In #RefugeeWeek we're thinking of displaced children everywhere & planning more training to help you with those with especially traumatic experiences. Our materials, already in Spanish & Arabic, are being translated now into Polish & Ukrainian. Together we can make a difference!
Happy #RefugeeWeek!
Share with us what you're doing to celebrate this week!
We love to hear stories of #CommunitySponsorship and community-led welcome of refugees, from both #refugees and #sponsors. Please reach out if you would be interested in being interviewed!
Delighted that our partner for anxiety training in Yemen - Bridges to Peace & Solidarity - is now registered as a Canadian charity & has launched its website: bridges2solidarity.org/ Kawkab & her team is doing amazing work to help children affected by ongoing war @KawkabAlwaday
In case you're wondering why you haven't heard from us in a while, we've been in Uganda for our first national conference for CATT counsellors 2-3 May. It was a great success & all working so hard with children learned from each other and improved their practice. Here we all are!

All the children in Ukraine – at least 7.5 million, are in danger of physical harm, severe emotional distress and displacement.
We are calling for the immediate end of fighting.
Children must be protected from harm at all times.

The CATT training in Bogotá was a complete success due to the generosity of @ChildChangeCOL, the participation and energy of the trainees, and the endless attentiveness and expertise of our amazing trainers Pilu and Almudena. Congratulations and thanks to everyone!
The first day of CATT training in Bogotá was filled with the exchange of the experiences and cultures. We are so grateful to be able to work in person again! And it's great to be working with @ChildChangeCOL on this CATT project.
