(Copy and pasted) PLEASE REMEMBER THIS WHEN SOMEONE WITH DIABETES HAS HIGH BLOOD SUGAR. 🩸💙 High blood sugar is so much more than a number on a screen. It can cause irritability, mood changes, headaches, exhaustion, blurry vision, intense thirst, and constant trips to the bathroom. When glucose levels are high, your body loses fluids through urination, which can lead to dehydration and make you feel absolutely miserable. These aren't personality flaws. They're physical symptoms of what's happening inside the body. Now add KETONES to the equation. When your body doesn't have enough insulin, it starts breaking down fat for energy, producing ketones. Too many ketones can cause diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a life-threatening emergency. Suddenly, you're dealing with nausea, stomach pain, severe fatigue, dehydration, and possibly vomiting. You can't just go exercise to bring your sugar down, because exercising with ketones can make things worse. Water helps replace lost fluids, but it doesn't fix an insulin deficiency or treat DKA. And if you're vomiting and can't keep water down, the situation can become dangerous quickly. (I’ve personally gone into borderline organ failure multiple times and have had to be med flighted because of DKA) That's not being dramatic. That's a medical condition that can affect your entire body. I've lived with Type 1 diabetes for 20 years, and I can tell you that high blood sugar can affect how you feel, think, and function. Sometimes, we're fighting battles you can't see. Before you judge someone's mood, exhaustion, or frustration, remember that you don't know what's happening inside their body. Please give people with diabetes some grace. Not posting this for views or anything I’m just posting this because of how good it made me feel, I’ve always been big on supporting people wether I know them or don’t. I’m at work rn, and this mom came in to get gas, she had only 5 dollars and was trying to get to her daughter who was in active labor so she could be there for her and the birth of her grandbaby. We talked for a min while she was paying and her card declined. I’ve been there, it’s so anxiety inducing when your card declines at the register especially during an emergency, and even though I’m struggling myself rn, with no hesitation I paid for ten dollars worth of gas with my last 10 dollars. Whoever you are I hope you got to your baby and got to see your grandbaby be born, and I genuinely believe we need more people that have basic empathy for others. 💙💙Diabetes awareness 💙💙 Type 1 Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes are very different. Type 1 is lifelong and unlike type 2 diabetes, type 1 is an autoimmune disease and is not caused by diet, weight, or lifestyle habits. Type one Diabetes runs on carbs and insulin to keep the blood sugar levels at certain levels for the pancreas. Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition where your body does not use insulin properly or makes enough of it, causing sugar (glucose) to build up in your blood rather than entering your cells for energy! Don’t listen to people who say “oh that’s diabetes in a cup” or “oh maybe try loosing weight and you wouldn’t have it!” That’s false! My dad was diagnosed with type 2 years ago, and it wasn’t cause he was overweight, eating wrong, or anything. He had just quit smoking, lost over 80 pounds, and was diagnosed!

Little rant: I’ve ALWAYS been taught to respect my elders but wtf is up with all these people in their 50’s to 80’s thinking that just because they are older they are entitled to scream at us customer service workers over the stupidest shit. I had a older man get in my face over fucking maple flavored coffee, just had an older man yell at me that we were out of half and half and that I NEEDED to change it NOW or he’d be calling corporate and taking my job, and had another older man on Halloween banging on the bathroom door because I was using the bathroom and telling me I have no right to use it on the clock and that I need to get back to fucking work? Just because you are a dinosaur doesn’t mean you are entitled to scream at people, berate people, insult people, or harass them and think you are right lmao, it’s how you get kicked tf outta the store.
