"The time for talk is over. I want to speak to the entrepreneurs here- the reason your are an entrepreneur- you are an optimist there is a redemptive quality of making a choice that you will be successful regardless of the external factors." Keith Chaney@bostonchamber
"As a business owner facing COVID19, I communicated with our clients and customers- what does there before, during and post COVID look like? We had to adapt our value proposition and innovate. We learned our customers needed options when contracts are being cancelled/postponed."
"Using the word minority is a misuse of the word. Black and Brown folks are the majority. I wish we could calibrate our language so that it reflects our society. Otherwise this is another way that we're perpetuating systemic racism." Dr. Lee Pelton @bostonchamber

Racism is embedded in the health care system and it is a public emergency....[we have had] enough talk and need more action. -@andrewdreyfus of @BCBSMA #FUNinBOS
"I fear for my life and for my sons. Why did the outrage not come sooner? We need to be passionately outraged and committed to doing something. We have a model of passionately committed business leaders in #Boston like Bob Rivers of @easternbank." -Herby Duverné @bostonchamber

@bostonchamber #FUNinBoston "The basis of American Capitalism is based on racism. For the banks, how do we take that responsibility-not assuage guilt with conversations- but to bank people. To affect the wealth gap, let's get people mortgages and engaged in banking." -Malia Lazu
Let's not move too quickly past Anna's point. "Black people are sick and tired of being sick and tired. These conversations have been happening every week and every month for years." Just because white folx have decided to 1/2 @Amavensworld @bostonchamber #FUNinBoston
tune into a program already in progress-- white ppl, let's not pretend that this is new. That the conversations haven't been had. That we white ppl have not had all of the resources and opportunities to educate ourselves and do better

"Employers--supporting and developing the diverse staff that you already have. What we don't tap into as a city or as corporations are your best ambassadors who are the people who work for you and live in Boston." @pensiveinpink @bostonchamber #FUNinBoston
"Don't just work on your statements or outward actions--make sure your Black staff have the opportunity to find community at work. If workforce doesn't reflect diversity, make sure that those opps for connections are available" @pensiveinpink @bostonchamber #FUNinBoston
"You mentioned the @Bostonglobe spotlight series and it feels recent, but that was in 2017. It's been 3 years. The City and corporations have not effectively responded." @pensiveinpink White folx, use power and privilege to do the work. @bostonchamber #FUNinBoston
There is not a pipeline problem. There is diverse talent ready for leadership positions. "People hire people who look like them. People who look like their friends. Many universities and corps have diversity goals--but they do not reflect the diversity of community." -Marcy Reed
"The 3rd reason is unconscious bias." Plain and simple. @bostonchamber #FUNinBoston
"We are all aware that unconscious bias breeds racism. Fear and ignorance is the most potent cocktail. Structural racism effects the wealth gap, the health gap, the contracting gap--every gap that you can imagine is rooted in America's beginning." Dr. Lee Pelton @bostonchamber
"This moment is not new. It's a matter of will. Of not seeing the tragic events as something that needs to be fixed--that is a mistake. What we need is a sustained effort --not to fix as if it will go away. We need continuous improvement in all walks of life." Dr. Lee Pelton
There's an ecosystem that needs curing. Govt- more contracting opportunities. MBEs to join in the supply chain. Universities need to supply access and affordability. Foundations have the opportunity to step in in a big way. @bostonchamber #FUNinBoston
