We’re back on Capitol Hill with our first in-person congressional briefing since 2019!
Bonnie Duffy, MAPRx convener, gets us underway with an overview of the Coalition’s member organizations and its work in support of Medicare Part D and those it serves since 2005.
“The biggest priority right now is making sure the Inflation Reduction Act is implemented in a way that ensures it has the impacts it was intended to have - and for patients, that means improved access and increased affordability.”
Pat Wildman - @LupusOrg
“It’s a priority for us that patients are able to enroll in cost-smoothing at as many points and times as possible in order to minimize people leaving their prescriptions at the pharmacy counter due to cost”
Michael Ward - @Aging_Research
A major victory! Thank you to the patients and organizations that advocated against this harmful policy, and @HHSGov for hearing our voices.

Today we released a new report that finds while Medicare Part D is as popular and robust as ever, significant challenges to beneficiaries still exist. As always, we are committed to strengthening and improving Part D and believe this report provides a blueprint for doing so.
Among the challenges detailed in the report are rising out-of-pocket (OOP) costs with no true OOP maximum, a looming OOP cliff that will increase costs for beneficiaries even further in 2020, and a lack of resources to connect them with the plan that best meets their needs.
MAPRx is calling on Congress and the Administration to address the challenges facing Part D by enacting the solutions proposed in this new report. #StrengthenPartD
