For anyone interested in learning more about the role of #psychology in oral health and #dentistry, a new textbook has been published 'Oral Health Psychology: Psychological Aspects Related to Dentistry' The book is an international collaborative effort between dental professionals and psychologists who draw on scientific research as well as their personal experiences in clinical practice. It is both an educational resource and a resource to help dental professionals with complex challenges in their own clinical settings. The book covers a wide range of areas from trauma-sensitive care, behaviour change, dental anxiety, blood-injury-injection phobia, child sexual abuse and oral health challenges, work stress & burnout risk in dental practice, and a chapter by myself and colleagues on psychological aspects of orthognathic surgery.
