The thing I find strangest about the Brand case is that from the moment he was exposed he knew he was done. The fake religious conversion. The embrace of MAGA. The great conspiracy theories. They were his last desperate defence. And there are still people on the Right falling for his bullshit.

Katherine Ryan didn't need a jury. She revealed Russell Brand's true nature a while ago.

I’ve worked with some fantastic journalists in my 29 years on the job. My pride at @Gabriel_Pogrund knows no bounds for example. But what @RosamundUrwin had to go through to get the Brand allegations past the lawyers and over the line is of a different order from anything I’ve ever achieved in this job. She is brave, principled, a great reporter, a beautiful writer and a gutsy human being. I am frankly proud to know her let alone call her a friend. The KC who lost his rag earlier should rot in hell

Lovely little surprise in my dressing room. #Legend

Fleet Street columnists were frequently acidic about Brand. We rang the alarms as loudly as was legally possible. Yet broadcasting bosses, normally so sensitive to bad publicity, ignnored us, I suppose because we were Rightwing.

Not the first time @jamesmatthewsky has had a tough time. I remember years ago outside Balmoral as he tried to explain to a Highland policeman that Sky News needed to stand in front of the gate. The officer huffed: ‘Skye News you say? Well f…* off back to Portree.’
Michigan's Democratic candidate for Senate Abdul El-Sayed confronted @jamesmatthewsky, telling him he wouldn't answer his questions as he wants "zero" votes in the UK.

Witnesses to Parliamentary Committees have absolute parliamentary immunity.
If the House of Women and Equalities Committee called Ms Berki as a witness then she'd be unconstrained by the injunction.
And, for the first time in eleven years, we could hear her side of the story.
Matt Bendoris retweeted
So what precisely did Ms Berki allege? There's little in the UK press. But there was extensive coverage in the Hungarian press: 24.hu/szorakozas/2014/08/04/…

Now Russell Brand's been convicted of rape, we need to talk about Sylvie Berki. Because she can't speak for herself.
In 2014, Ms Berki said she'd been assaulted by Russell Brand.
But if she talks about it, even now, she risks jail.

Replying to @DAaronovitch @RichardRoss_EU
To take the most egregious example, the claim that if a woman hasn't physically fought back or screamed, then it is unlikely to have been rape

So now we can say the thing that we couldn't say before: that Russell Brand's barrister's arguments on his client's behalf were utterly disgraceful and seemed rooted in the misogynistic past
Well done for keeping the heid @jamesmatthewsky

£100 cost-of-living payment (for some).. but typical energy bills up by by nearly £500.

Making content from other peoples misery,
Let me provide some clarification,
I wrote a poem about her brother in law,
And his consequential incarceration,
I also wrote about her sister, Nicola,
And how her eyes must be painted oan,
And the campervan that was parked,
In a completely visible zone….
And then this unhinged crackpot,
Reported me to the police,
Aw for a some words that happened to rhyme,
About Pedro the SNP thief!

In the hardback edition of Sturgeon's memoir, this anecdote about the day after the 2015 appeared. It was false: I didn't go down to London that day. In the paperback version it has been corrected. It was Jimmy Hood who was aboard that plane, not me. But why include such a nasty, spiteful story in the first place?

Tend to agree. Always found Alyn Smith to be knowledgeable and pragmatic. He's the Innovation Minister, not an anti-AI activist
